An apocryphal anecdote recounts that Guy de Maupassant said he disliked the Eiffel tower so much that he lunched daily at its restaurant, which was the only place in Paris where he couldn’t see it.

We do not enjoy such luxury for, even from inside one of these monstrous constructions, one is condemned to see the others. What an outrageous scar on Malta’s landscape!

People eventually got used to the Eiffel tower and it has become an icon, but I cannot imagine how anyone may ever accept such a bunch of ugly buildings sprouting offensively in the heart of Malta.

Worst of all is the view of the skyscraper protruding above the Valletta skyline as seen from Birgu. Indecent.

Why are we still saying that Electrogas is Fenech/Gasan’s? It is so friggin’ obvious that it is not. Set up with a mere €10,000, €360m loan from the bank, and all communication coming from the Energy Minister and Prime Minister themselves is a clear confirmation that Fenech and Gasan are only there as a front in exchange for all the lubrication for all their greed to slip through.

And we get some people commenting regarding the Mriehel towers that the area is a mess anyway and building the towers will rehabilitate the area blah blah blah. As usual they only look at the very small picture.

No consideration as to what it will look like from practically ALL OVER Malta. No consideration as to the fact that the infrastructure such as utilities and roads etc are nowhere near capable enough able to handle these monstrosities.

What irks me too and I take it as threatening and arrogant when one of them, I think the CEO said that its either build up and leave public space or build sideways and leave nothing.

This and the other Din l-Art Helwa picture of the Sliema skyscraper illustrate the problem only partially. If you are looking from Mdina you will see the Mriehel and Sliema skyscrapers in the same vista.

Whoever is involved in this is not only corrupt but has no sense of decency and aesthetics.
