Of course people like Silvio Debono wants to keep paying subsistence wages. Shame on our political parties when we have people working and poor.

You should be aware how Silvio Debono treated/treats his brothers who, at one point, were business partners with him at the original (and smaller) Seabank hotel.

His brothers are decent people.

Nasty little man. Somebody like that could only have been admired in a society of physical dwarves and moral pygmies.

In October 1996, when the PN unexpectedly lost the election to Alfred Sant, Guido de Marco was ecstatic because he was elected on two districts.

He went into Eddie Fenech Adami’s office to express his excitement, with the words “Dward ghadni kif gejt elett minn zewg distretti”. At the time, Guido de Marco was included in the Sliema district for the first time.

Needless to say, Fenech Adami was furious, as he was focused on the national results.

This happened before the famous 6pm visit to the counting hall in Ta’ Qali, where Eddie Fenech Adami wrongly stated that the election results would be “a photo-finish”.

During the first PN general conference after the election, Guido DeMarco fanned the fire for a replacement of the leader. He not-so-subtly hinted that he is so popular, as he was elected from two districts, to ‘let others’ propose him as a new leader. His strategy fell flat.

Oh for God’s sake let’s not start with the new political parties, reinventing the wheel a year away from a general election.

Guido Demarco was not a great leader but a spoke in Fenech Adami’s wheel. And Beppe Fenech Adami pulls his weight in going after the Labour Party. If the Nationalist Party loses him, it loses one of its strongest and most confidence voices. There is nobody on the Opposition benches who is able or willing to rip into Labour like he does, which is exactly why they target him – and protect Mario Demarco.

Move on, yes – and make sure you’re wearing your parachute because you’re on the edge of an abyss, Mr T.
