Yes. He should step down immediately. The future of Malta and its people in the next general election should not be sacrificed to Mario Demarco’s desire for more money from Silvio Debono. It is as simple as that.

If he can’t understand it himself, his party leader should call him in and ask him to step down. Not only is he not pulling his weight, as I wrote some weeks ago, but he is also actively undermining the party’s best interests (and thereby the best interests of Malta at this stage) for his own personal gain. That is completely unacceptable.

I never write what I do without first giving it much thought, and I stand by everything I wrote about Mario Demarco some weeks back.

I don’t dispute your views. However, I still struggle with condemning those individuals who perhaps unwittingly contributed to today’s political mess while others, who I feel have no such excuse, appear to be purposeful in their actions and are therefore guilty of far greater wrongs.

I have refused work relating to the sale of Maltese citizenship as I do not support it and will have nothing to do with it. I forfeit earnings as consequence. Yet it annoys me when I read that Mario DeMarco’s firm are representing the Sea Bank Group in the proposed ITS project.

This development is so politically charged and controversial that it staggers me that he and his firm have anything to do with this. Where is his commitment, political and otherwise?

Take for example the 1987 election where the Fenech Adami administration was elected by less than 5000 votes, despite Malta having passed through one of its darkest periods in its history under the Labour government.

Although we like to think that we as a nation have become more sophisticated in our political acumen, I do believe that as far as the traditional Labour voter is concerned, things haven’t changed much, and they will still flock to their standard.

That is why I submit that any abstainers will mostly come from either the floating or the Nationalist bloc.

Why does there always have to be someone losing the Nationalist Party’s moral high ground for a pocketful and a half of change?

This time it’s Mario Demarco.

If Harrison had half a spine she would speak out now like she did then. But like the corrupt person she is – and exchanging political testimonials for privilege is corruption – she will keep silent in the face of environmental destruction and is probably trying to curry favour with the Nationalists behind Labour’s back ‘just in case’. This is exactly the way these turds – for there is no other description for them – operate. Conscience, my eye. People with a conscience don’t vote Labour. And they most certainly didn’t vote for that sleazy shark Muscat.
