Mr Ellis is perfectly correct that British contributions to the Greek bailout have been zilch, nada.

And the cost of staying out of the EU will be far greater than what it currently pays into EU coffers.
It is very foolish to base your arguments on Daily Mail propaganda.

You might be a Scotsman, but you are definitely not representative of the rest of your countrymen.

Like the majority of intelligent and well-educated Britons (actually the majority of Britons, if you exclude ancient people and the senile), they have voted overwhelmingly and in every single constituency in favour of remaining in the EU.

And unlike the unelected Theresa May, Nicola Sturgeon was actually voted into her position by a very large, relative majority of Scots.

The same Scots have given the SNP an almost complete monopoly of the Scottish seats in the House of Commons.

As for the Good Friday agreement, Blair has managed to do what no Prime Minister of his century had managed to do - bring peace and normalcy to Ulster, by ending the Troubles.

It would be profoundly foolish to tinker with Blair's Irish legacy.

Negotiations with the EU will not begin tomorrow.

The EU is in no hurry to start negotiating. It prefers to let the British government stew in its own juice.

The first meeting of the council of ministers to formulate the response to Brexit is scheduled for the end of April and serious negotiations are unlikely to start before October, once German and French elections are out of the way.

In her letter of notification, Theresa May begged the EU to start negotiating a trade agreement in parallel with the exit negotiations.

Angela Merkel, secure in the knowledge that May has burned all her boats and can no longer overstay her welcome, poured icy cold water on those hopes.

A trade agreement will only start to be negotiated once the Brexit deal is satisfactorily concluded.

As to trade deals with the rest of the world, the European parliament has made it amply clear that if the UK breaks EU law and negotiates with other countries behind Europe's back, before it actually leaves the EU, it will veto any future trade deal with the UK, effectively excluding it from its biggest, richest and closest market.

If that happens, the trickle of jobs already leaving London to relocate in continental Europe risks becoming a torrent.

The only country which contracted the exit bug post-Brexit so far, is Scotland. Exit from the UK, that is.

And far from being comfortable without a deal, Theresa May threatened to put British and European lives at risk by withdrawing security and military cooperation with Europe in the event of failing to secure a deal. That blackmail has backfired.

Neither Scotland, nor the UK as a whole, will have any say on the matter. Once Article 50 is triggered, the only way of turning back is for each and every one of the member states to agree to accept to halt the process and change the treaties of the European Union to accommodate the UK, a long and laborious process which will open a Pandora`s box. Many countries are only to happy to see the back of the British and their rebate and their annoying habit of throwing spanners in the works. So there is no way that that is going to happen. The UK will be automatically kicked out of the EU in exactly two years` time, no matter what.

That's no consolation for Britain. Every single clause of the Brexit agreement has to be approved and ratified by every single member state of the EU, the European parliament, and some of the constituent federal regions of the EU member states.

So it will be a nightmare for British negotiators to appease each and every one of these players. the risk of crashing out of the EU without any sort of deal to fall back to, is enormously and dangerously high.
