Blair is not a criminal, but just another sordid opportunist. Please deploy logic when you are dealing with me. I never said that good families and smart public schools are a guarantee against a poor outcome. The two are entirely separate, but coming from a good family and having gone to a smart public school are advantages to anybody, including criminals.

They would also have been advantages to Muscat.

With the major difference, of course, is that Tony Blair went to a very smart public school, comes from a ‘good’ family, and is very well spoken.

In reply to Daphne Caruana Galizia. You are right. in fact I've heard that this anti Brexit campaign is a financial windfall for Blair who is being handsomely rewarded for his efforts by the likes of Branson, Rotschild etc.

In reply to John Jones. Reversing Brexit is a cause. Giving an endorsement to a crook on a Mediterranean island is not a cause. If Tony Blair cared that much about the future of the European Union, he should start by not endorsing a corrupt man as the head of government of a European Union member state - one who believes himself not accountable to the European Parliament and moreover, one who sells, for hard cash, passports to Europe's Schengen area.

Tony Blair would never make a speech for money only. He believes passionately in his causes like, for example, reversing Brexit. I had seen your previous posts covering his interview on Sky News and the NYT and found him very persuasive.

To see the depths that Tony Blair has descended to, one need only remember his reaction when his “minister without portfolio” (that seems to ring a bell) Peter Mandelson (who was recently here in Malta) was found to have benefited from a dubious house mortgage deal: instant resignation, as the only course of action likely to clear the air political air.

And now, with Malta’s political scene boiling over with news of a whole string of “dubious deals”, Blair comes back from the dead to commend Joseph Muscat as the “the very model of a model major general”. Good comic opera, if we were not at the receiving end.
