How clearly I remember those ugly times and sadly how easily people forget. How wiser are we now? The Nationalist Party had better get on its feet and quick with a leader worth his salt hoping that he or she will get to grips with the situation we are finding ourselves in and forget about the niceties. That is why, despite what you say, marriages between people of opposite political opinions are rare and don’t actually work. When you see a marriage between people of different political opinions, it isn’t really different political opinions at all. You will find that either one or both have only a nominal interest in politics or is largely indifferent to who is in government. In reality, those who feel strongly about politics cannot cohabit with those who feel strongly about another political party, because their goals are diametrically opposed. It is actually more difficult than marrying somebody of a different religion, because religion doesn’t put people in government who will change the country in ways you don’t like.

It’s a Mafia ‘light’, where absolute loyalty to the family is a must and those who need to be disposed of are not dispatched in an old quarry, but instead sent to Brussels or given some other perk calculated to shut them up.

How do you think Joseph Muscat has managed to run such a tight ship through the cyclone of corruption he created for himself?

I agree that Labour’s goal has been to split the Nationalist Party, but it achieved that goal a long time ago, and the PN keeps looking ridiculous, disorganised and lacking more credibility each time Joseph Muscat manages to bring an internal disagreement to the surface. But that kind of proves my point, doesn’t it? The situation can’t go on if we are to make any headway against corrupt people united by blood.

If only the Egrant story plus documentation was published by the Independent, it would have been credible and all evidence would be out before the smart decision of JM was taken of ordering a magisterial enquiry knowing well that top people in the institutions, who would eventually see the outcome of the enquiry, would not take action against him. That opportunity was a golden one. It was the only hope Malta and the PN had to be in government before the next 10 years.
