I’m happy to correct you because you’re VERY wrong. Nobody can ‘keep’ anybody else’s account. The banks don’t allow it for reasons that are obvious. The name on the account is the person responsible at law for the account, its use and its contents, and he/she is also the owner of the account.

Lawyers do NOT “keep clients’ bank accounts”. Lawyers have bank accounts of their own, in their own name, which they use for the express purpose of keeping their clients’ funds in it for one purpose or another. This is done ONLY for organisational purposes, to keep those funds SEPARATE TO THEIR OWN. They call those bank accounts ‘client accounts’ not because they BELONG to the client, but because it’s where they put their clients’ money temporarily.

They will, however, designate this account accordingly: for example, ADRIAN DELIA CLIENT A/C. You will notice there is no such designation on the Barclays International account. It is just ADRIAN DELIA.

You cannot open a client account offshore.

As far as I’m aware lawyers do keep clients’ account. Is that illegal? Correct me if I’m wrong.
