In the Maltese mind? Not really. The people who are agitating behind Adrian Delia are doing so because they want to “take their party back” – i.e. make it right wing again.

So obviously, they know it’s no longer on the right. Equally, those planning on flooding out are mainly driven by Delia’s right-wing views, apart from his sleaze and financial disaster.

Yes: Adrian Delia was born in 1969 and his wife was born in 1972. They actually do look the same age, you know. Both are very obviously in their mid to late 40s.

Madam, you’re nit-picking. In the Maltese “mind” the PN is the centre right party. Is she really just 2.5 years younger. Would have thought at least 7-8 years. Well most Maltese men age quickly, or badly.

Anyhow I find the parallels quite amusing, or chilling.

The total amount of the deed of constitution of debt – 7.3 million euros – should have been included under Delia’s liabilities, with a qualifying note explaining that he is jointly and severally liable as a surety for the entire amount.

The Nationalist Party is not centre right but centre left. The Labour Party is centre right, verging on right.

Adrian Delia does not have a younger wife – unless you consider 2.5 years ‘younger’.

The centre-right party is in chaos. They have lost the last two elections, are suffering an identity crisis and have no idea how to get back into power. Along comes an “outsider” who portrays himself as anti-establishment.

He presents himself as a successful person, but his finances are not clear or transparent. Under pressure he still refuses to publish his income tax returns.

He has a history in risky property development, but insists that he is always on top, claiming that his assets are greater than his liabilities. He comes with the trophy wife, beautiful and younger.

He boasts a large family and beautiful children. He slowly starts to make inroads, appealing to the party faithful to take back their party and the country.

Occasionally he delivers very impassioned speeches, full of emotion and fervour. He surrounds himself with some party strongmen.

His opponents vary, from the moderate to the reactionary right. He slowly starts demolishing the reactionary right candidates, who then move over to his side.

His last opponent is rather boring, politically experience but much shorter than him. He claims the media are against him, and his own party is against him.

Against all odds he wins.
