Marisa Micallef: too embarrassed to be seen in public with her paymasters

He used to be my hero, but when he wouldn't give me the job I wanted, he became an assassin tal-Maltin.

He used to be my hero, but when he wouldn't give me the job I wanted, he became an assassin tal-Maltin.

Somebody was very conspicuous by her absence at that ‘national protest’ in Valletta on Sunday afternoon, and outside the palace yesterday evening.

I would have expected Marisa Micallef to have the courage of her convictions – if she really has any, that is – and march down Republic Street with her paymasters Toni, Anglu, Joseph and Michelle, admiring Tony Zarb’s fine speech and shouting: ‘Le, le, le, il-Gonzi ma rriduhx! Gonzi assassin tal-Maltin!’

Maybe she fully intends to be a shadowy figure behind the throne. Somebody should tell her you need brains for that.

Honestly, I was going to ask if anyone spotted her in some photo. She is keeping such a low profile, which means that she isn’t feeling comfortable at all.

[Daphne – Of course she isn’t comfortable. She’s a Godawful snob with pretensions beyond her station and abilities, who has been forced to consort with the very sort of people she looks down on and laughs at. She’s not going to find a boyfriend in that crowd, that’s for sure.]

Eh, you never know what desperation may do to you, now that she has exhausted all other possibilities. Mhux il-partiti biss daret nahseb, Marisa.

Were Marlene Mizzi and Manwel Mallia, tal -Business Forum, at the dimostrazzjoni shouting ‘Gonzi assassin tal-Maltin’? Or were they uncomfortable with their crowd?

I remember that chant in my childhood, only then it was ‘Gorg’. For people like me, that chant is a knell. Let’s hope they keep doing this so that those whose youth was blighted by Mintoff and Karmenu come to their senses in time.

Perhaps she kept a low profile because she is from a different class of people and wouldn’t like to mix with the hamalli…who knows? She might have been there hiding somewhere, perhaps on a roof. She is always full of surprises.

She’s stopped writing letters to The Times too. Pity. They were good entertainment.
