Mrs Muscat goes to Brussels (and wears some really inappropriate earrings)

Please don’t all ask at once whether those earrings are from Buttardi, the jewellery business which Mrs Muscat owns and runs with her friend Michelle Buttigieg, who lives in New York and who has been made the Malta Tourism Authority’s representative in that city by her business partner’s husband, the prime minister.

Ms Buttigieg wasn’t sent to New York by the MTA – she lived there already. But Mrs Muscat found a way to have her friend put on the state payroll even though she lives on the other side of the world.

You have to hand it to them for finding creative ways to sneak all their friends’ snouts into the trough.

But back to those earrings – my God. Not at an event like that. Not anywhere at all, but especially not at an event like that.
