The Malta Tourism Authority has spent all its budget on cronies
Mrs Muscat best friend and former business partner, Michelle Buttigieg, crony appointee to the specially created post of Malta Tourism Authority representative in New York (where she lived already)
The Malta Tourism Authority has spent all its budget on cronyism like ‘free’ concerts by Joseph Calleja, organised by new Taghna Lkoller Anton Attard, CEO of Public Broadcasting Services, and his NNG Promotions, and like the salary paid to Michelle Muscat’s closest friend and former partner in her necklace business, Michelle Buttigieg, who lives in New York.
Now there is no more money left to spend on its real business, which is participating in important tourism fairs around the world. Look at this tragic email which the Malta Tourism Authority has just sent out to private operators in the tourism business in Malta (some of whom forwarded it to this website).
“This year the MTA has decided to participate as a visitor” – in other words, it is not participating at all. Instead, it is paying for its crony appointee, Mrs Buttigieg, to fly from New York to Las Vegas, buy an entrance ticket, and walk around with all the other visitors.

I trust this email finds you well. I am writing with regards to IMEX America taking place between the 13-15th October in Las Vegas. This year MTA has decided to participate as visitor; our colleague Ms. Michelle Buttigieg- MTA Representative U.S.A. will be walking the floor at the fair to attend a number of pre-scheduled appointments and events.
In this respect, I am writing as we would like to know who of you will be attending and in what capacity (as individual hosted buyers/ on your overseas representative stand/etc) and to also offer you the opportunity for MTA to attend any of your meetings as Malta’s official Tourist Board.
Please get back to Ms. Lara Micallef on [email protected] by no later than Monday 17th August 2015 with your participation details (including stand number) as well as any meetings which you would like MTA to attend so that we can schedule accordingly.
