Just look where Joe Mizzi took them to lunch

Looks like we’re promoting the Sawt right now. All well and good, but look where Transport Minister Joe Mizzi (yes, him) took that South Korean delegation to lunch today.

He’s not the first Labour minister to do it, either. Try telling them that every country has “local colour restaurants” but that there’s consensus in every civilised country that guests – unless they’re your friends and relations and don’t mind slumming it after a fashion – are entertained in international-city-standard restaurants.

But with Labour, entertaining your guests to the requisite standard is of secondary importance to putting business the way of a diehard Laburist: in this case, Ta’ Victor restaurant in Marsaxlokk, where members of the government host practically all visiting delegations. Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando was there for lunch today, too, with his soldier-bodyguard Stephen Ciangura and a party of six, getting in some relaxation time before his hard morning’s work at the Malta Council for Science and Technology tomorrow (it’s Wednesday).
