The man accompanying the Prime Minister last night outside parliament, who told a journalist “Get out of the way, moron” (“Ersaq, l-ghageb”) when he asked the PM who owns the Panama company Egrant Inc, is not a security officer or a minder.

He is Raymond Barbara, who was appointed personal assistant to the Prime Minister when Muscat was elected in March 2013.

Barbara has since also been made government director of corporate services (energy and projects), working directly under Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi, and is part of the innermost clique.

Raymond Barbara, crony appointee to the post of government director/corporate services/energy and energy projects, working for Konrad Mizzi. He is also the Prime Minister's personal assistant.
