And this time, he almost managed to spell ‘disservice’. I am expecting a telephone call at any time, with Joe Saliba disowning me at the other end.
“Daphne, I already told you that you are a disserveice to the PN honest-thinking supporters. Please stop this rubbish as you make us all sick. Joe Saliba should disown you.” – Andre Galizia, sent from Jo Said’s computer.

First they wanted the University students to shut up, now they are trying to shut you up.
Keep going Daph, you are one in a million!
Andre’ Galizia: who is the ‘us’ you refer to?
Please Daphne don’t let this blog degenerate into a meaningless stew of inane comments.
@ Corinne Vella
the ‘us’ refers to Jo Said’s multiple personalities
@ Meerkat
Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde!
Charles Cauchi: I suppose you meant Jo Said alias Andre’ Galizia. Why would you want to see the back of him? Now that AfghanField-alias-Europarl has retired, there is a vacancy here.
europarl is looking for his Afghan in the field…
NEWS FLASH
Joseph Muscat’s campaign song is
‘How much is that Doggie in the Window?’
Meerkat: He didn’t say his dog is an Afghan. He said it’s of no breed. That means it doesn’t exist so there must be another reason for his absence.
Euros or Lm ?
What did the Poodle tell the Afghan in Strasbourg?
‘And they call it Puppy love…
Someone, help me, help me, help me please
Is the answer up above
How can I, oh how can I tell them
This is not a puppy love
@ Corinne
Oh so it must be Karzai…hehe ;)
Yes Meerkat, the answer is there, because the only way is up
Meerkat,
I’m not sure, but should’nt that read ‘puppet love’

The Lady is not for Turning…
So said the great Maggie Thatcher for herself in the face of great opposition. I am sure Daphne is of the same steely conviction.
Meerkat,
Heard in the hive… he’s going to get Zeppi l-hafi to do a pre-election launch of the song.
@ Lino
Mela Zeppi l-Hafi fits the bill perfectly to sing
Puppet on a String since Sandy Shaw sang barefoot.
I am sure she wouldn’t mind.

Hello everyone, time to let you know that Jo Said is VERY annoyed. Apparently he met Grace Borg at Giorgio’s, together with Martin Debono and it seems he now feels let down by the party he was trying to rescue !!! And they ain’t happy !!!!!
Got my drift Joey ??
Repeating from another blog area:
Someone asked for MLP leader suggestions.
OK…here’s my (very) Short real list. Based on criteria such as openness to EU, no history of thuggery associations, general electability, potential capabilty etc.,:
1. Gavin Gulia
2. Chris Cardona
3. Luciano Busutil
NOW! I emphasise, the following is my joke List. This can run into dozens, but for fairness’ sake I’ll stick to three, guaranteed to make MLP even smaller than AD:
1. Sandro Schembri Adami
2. Jason Micallef
3. Rita Law
oh what the hell….have another one, there are so many 4. Silvio Parnis.
Cheers folks….I do believe we have a winner if blinkers are removed
whilst I am a PN supporter, I disagree with DCG on a number of points:
i) it is time to let Alfred Sant retire with dignity. i disagree with what i consider his arrogant attitude and policies, but he is entitled to his opinion too. like all of us, he made his positive contributions too. writing that he will be controlling his succession is purely hypothetical, and, if so, that is the MLP’s business.
ii) the attitude of the university students – as i was a few years back – during the 4 leader debate could have been better. In my opinion, DCG was completely out of place: this was a place for uni students!! at most, she would have been in place asking questions as a journalist. the fact that during the pre-1987 days students were beaten up does not justify this lesser ‘offence’ – both are wrong, though to different degrees.
iii) JPO – a wider reading of the constitution shows that an MP may be forced to resign if he is sentenced to a term of imprisonment [Article 55(2)(a)]. Therefore, one should wait for the conclusion of the police investigations, since they might find sufficient evidence for JPO to be charged in court, and possibly found guilty and sentenced to imprisonment.
That is as regards legal responsibility. However the net of political/moral responsibility is wider. In fact, JPO has already been burdened with such wider responsibility, since he has been excluded from the Cabinet.
The MEPA Auditor’s report clealry states that the outline development permit should never have been issued. I believe that it is in the public interest that the contract between JPO (or his company) and the third party (whose details should not be revealed for reasons of data protection) is published. If the contract shows that JPO leased the land for the same reasons for which the MEPA permit was requested, then I do not think JPO will fool anyone by saying that he did not know the “full” details – he knew enough, and in my opinion should assume his political and moral responsibility and resign voluntarily.
….Daphne I like following your Blog you have a great talent for communication,a vibrant spirit however, harness those energies….and help ‘us’ steer away from futile and puerile satire…help ‘us win over’ rather winning our political contesters.
Allow me perhaps the poor analogy but what I am skeptical about in ‘prayer meetings’ is the reason that they are made of same closed groups, sharing the same ideas that go round in circles.
I am noticing that in your Blog there is an emergent of such group, same names, trends, and ideas. I am saying this in good faith; wishing a qualitative leap in content…
Applying mental discipline allows clearer unbiased views of others; I am conscious and acknowledge that half the electorate voted Labour, ignoring that is very short-sighted.
The outcome of the Labour Party’s election of its new leader is still a way off, I think that’s wisdom.
I know this is ‘an election notbook’ but what’s wrong in directing it to other fields at least for the time being. Thanks
Daphne,
Mugliett’s gaffs do not concern only the Manuel Dimech Bridge…..he never took action on the illegal use of light heating oil used by public transport vehicles………the funny thing is that he was the Minister responsable when the ADT SMS alert campaign was launched.
One has to remember that this type of fuel is tax free and of greatest importance, it is harmful to the human race.
Giorgio’s should have a restraining order put on him. He’s scaring their more famous clients away. You can’t have a coffee there in peace without being pounced on by Jo Said.
DCG you are having a problem here! so called ‘PN supporters’ are not going to vote since they don’t like your way of expressing things and make everything black if the color is not blue.
@ kagemusha and stephen … I have been following DCG articles and now this blog and I can say that she got the right to say and express her opinion the way she thinks most fit after all that’s what we call ‘Democracy’ and ‘Freedom of speech’ which ONLY a PN government is supportive to this ideology since MLP has his ‘Vigilanza’ board to shut the mouth of those who criticize the party publicly.
Furthermore I have my sincere doubts that ‘Stephen’ is not a PN supporter at all, if you go thru his comments I see some similarity to ‘elves’ comments!
Keep it up DCG!
@ Kagemusha – this is not a campaigning blog by the Nationalist Party for the Nationalist Party. We’re not out to convert anyone here. It’s a much-needed source of entertainment – and forum for discussion, but we don’t have to be serious all the time.
Stephen:
1. Alfred Sant has not retired. He still holds a seat in parliament. He is simply not the leader of the MLP. Writing that he will control his successor is hypothetical but, contrary to Sant himself, many people believe that hypotheses about the future are not only worth discussing, but should be discussed and analysed. And no, the leadership of the MLP is not the MLP’s business. The MLP is not a bandclub. It is a political party with pretensions to power. Who runs the show is everybody’s business.
2. The 4 leaders’ debate was open to the public and had been advertised as such by the organisers themselves. The students behaviour could have been better, I agree – they could have walked out on the man who tried his damnedest to keep Malta out of Europe and endorsed a policy of keeping people out of university. Students who don’t like a politician are not a problem. A politician who does not like students doesn’t deserve any respect.
Maybe the Afghan(field) is looking for the poodle …
Stephen – Why crawl out of the woodwork now? It’s not Christmas for at least another 9 months ;)
Were you waiting for a fews cases to accumulate before you could just post one comment to tell Daphne you don’t agree with her? Have you suddenly “retired” from a prominent post and now have more time on your hands? Hmmmm……
Speaking of ex-MLP leaders…….the other two I know besides AS were still very much involved after they ‘departed’. Salvatur-cum Traditur even managed to bring his own party down from government. The other, namely KMB, led the most vociferous bunch of anti-EU mob that wasn’t even content with the ‘tame’ stand taken by the MLP.
Who can then blame DCG if she suspects that even AS will not really completely disappear from the face of Malta politics? After all he made one last condition before he went away – that of holding on to his parliamentary seat depending on who would be running the party.
AS’ shadow shall remain looming in the background of Maltese politics…..Reminds me of Voldemort!
whether Alfred Sant retains his MLP seat or not, I believe that, as with all politicians (and persons) he deserves a minimum of respect. there are many who disagree with his positions, inside and outside the MLP, but one should respect. After all, this is the stance which the PM has taken, which shows his statesmanship. One needs to acknowledge that AS managed to improve the MLP from the 80s. However, that job over, the party has remained at a standstill.
Re Uni students, I think that had they walked out it would have been “nicer” than booing. However, everyone has the right to protest as s/he wishes, that is merely my opinion.
As to whether Alfred Sant will try to exercise his influence on his successor, I think he has every right to do so, and there is nothing “suspect” about it – though I think his position is now weaker.
Whilst i agree with Corinne that MLP is not a band club, I still think it is up to them to elect whoever they want – and to the electorate to decide whether in the light of their package (incl. leader), it should give way to their “pretensions to power” by voting for them.
Therefore, the MLP people (delegates or members, whoever will vote) need realise that they need a charismatic leader, which they have lacked since Mintoff..though one may consider MIntoff to have had a “negative” charisma! Personally, I think the only man on the MLP side capable of squaring up to Gonzi is George Abela.
As to my status and reasons for commenting now, with all due respect, that is my business.
Stephen: Of course the MLP will elect its own leader. That doesn’t stop the matter being anyone else’s business, nor does it deprive anyone of the right to comment on the content and process of the MLP’s choice.
The MLP could hardly wish to elect a leader who is not prime ministerial material so the party should look positively on public discussion of the party’s potential leaders.
As for university students walking out on Alfred Sant, why do you imagine that is less offensive than being booed? People in the audience did boo Alfred Sant, but they also listened to what he had to say. If they’d walked out, he’d have spoken to several rows of empty seats.
@ Stephen – I don’t think Alfred Sant deserves any respect at all. Remember that this is the man who ignored the vote of 98% of the Maltese electorate in the referendum, who clung to his role at party leader despite losing that referendum and two general elections, and who reduced every single electoral campaign he fought – 1996, 1998, 2003 and 2008 – into a giant mud-bath.
Daphne Now that the eletion is over please give us and youself a rest. You very much deserve it. Go continue taking care of your family and show that you are a christian.
[Moderator – Daphne’s youngest son is an adult and her husband is not senile, so I’m sure they’re doing a perfectly good job of taking care of themselves.]
Stephen – You said “As to my status and reasons for commenting now, with all due respect, that is my business.”
Aha! I think that the moderator should add the words “with all due respect” and “that is my business” to the elve (sic) comment generator, seeing that (although maybe not officially an elve (sic, yet again), you certainly seem to think like one, at least by the language you use …
As for your other comment “they need a charismatic leader, which they have lacked since Mintoff..though one may consider MIntoff to have had a “negative” charisma”, well, what else can I say? Those words sound very familiar, and it certainly wasn’t a Stephen who said them! :) I suggest you use your real name, but then, you wouldn’t want Daphne to know that you DO follow her blog, would you?
