A new image for Labour

Joseph Muscat is hunting for a new image for his Partit tal-Progressivi (formerly the Malta Labour Party). Here are a couple of suggestions which really fit the bill.

They could call themselves ‘The queen-kings of Malta’. Think I met her, him, it in Singapore a few years ago.
After all the dancing looks progressive enough for a to-be progressive party;-)
As a promotion producer I know one thing for sure:If you can’t sell the product you change the image!
Andrea,
As an economist, if the product sucks, an image change hasn’t a hope:-).
Harry,
you are right, but the customer’s belief in change(yes, we can;-)pays my rent;-))
I believe it is somewhat too early to jump to any conclusions. Both image and substance are important to sell a product. May I ask what is really happening to our beloved Malta?
A. Cassar: What substance?
[Andrea – Harry,
you are right, but the customer’s belief in change(yes, we can;-)pays my rent;-))]
You obviously labour under the belief that most customers are exceedingly dumb. I agree with Harry here. If there is not going to be an accompanying, dramatic change in content, a cosmetic change alone will not go down well.
Oh well at least they are trying:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdX_OBUeHb4
Have you read this Daphne. Good news!

[Daphne – I like the man. I had worked with him on one particular job and found him to be very nice and interesting. And I have to say, having him as MEP for Labour would be a vast improvement on GlAnn BAdingfield.]
@Moggy
Sorry, I meant “client”, not customer.
I usually work for the client who sells the product to the customer…and my posts were meant to be ironic.
Obviously a new make up doesn’t help a party to succeed in the end.
Believe me, I am on the cusomer’s side but most clients I work with aren’t interested in selling content…they prefer to put a flashy paint onto their products and cheat about the content.Unfortunately that’s part of the game.
I better go back to the school’s playgound and improve my english instead of playing in the “writer’s premier league”.
No offense meant!
Brilliant tracks! I’m a bit of a party animal m’self, and partial to disco.
Andrea,
Your English is just fine, no need to apologise. We all need more wit and irony.
Harry,
thank you!
Still I am not sure if my specific bavarian sense of humour is translatable into english…or maltese;-)
Apart from that it seems to be almost iconoclastic to certain people to contemplate maltese policy with a hint of irony.
Andrea
Please don’t go away. Foreign input can only help to widen what is sometimes our much too provincial thinking.
At least DCG has come to our rescue and opened up discussions at every level.
As to what your client does to sell to his customers, unfortunately the principal rule of marketing is that perception plays an important part in the sales process. You are obviously the ideal person to help your client sell ‘perception’ of the product to his customers. But in the long run customer satisfaction goes far beyond that. If we consider what the Partit Laburista is doing for example, Gowzef is trying so hard to sell the perception of a ”new” beginning for his party, but people are already realising that that’s all it is, perception, because the product itself still sucks. Auf wiedersehen, (excuse spelling!)or as they say ”see you hee, orrite”
Tony,
I am glad I discovered Daphne’s blog–as you know, I almost gave up on Malta:-)
–Thank you Daphne, for battling ignorance!Still a long way to go!Take a deep breath and keep walking please!!–
I really wished a few more “customers” would read the instruction manual or prescription before they use the product–they might get protected from addiction and adverse effects.
Dare to think outside the box, orrite he;-)
Auf Wiedersehen!
Andrea,
Bavaria! Ah Ha! Once stayed in the Hofbrauhaus for 2 days nonstop. Attending a wedding. Fantastic experience–I think. (At least the parts I remember):-)
Harry,
this always happens to munich visitors:-)
They forget everything but they love it;-))
Prost from munich!
Oh I didn’t forget anything. I even remember laughing my brains out when a car sped by, blasting out Malta’s über-hamallu track of the moment, “Infinity 2008”, which is played nowhere else in the world. A Maltese émigré out for a drive, no doubt.
And this was during the Oktoberfest, mind.
H.P.Baxxter,
that was me;-)))))))
I thought a bit of promotion for Malta would help!
The new name is out: PLOPP!!
