Gran Torino

Before I dash off to sleep, those of you who like Clint Eastwood (or who thought you didn’t like him) must go to watch Gran Torino. I really enjoyed it – except for the fact that the cinema was icy and everyone was wearing coats with the collars turned up, and those who had gloves pulled them back on. I feel colder here than I did in -30 in Ontario.

    Here’s proof that different cultures and styles can come together in harmony. Would be wonderful to have a multi-ethnic concert at Hal Far.

    ‘The Reader’ and ‘Benjamin Button’ are not to be missed either.

    [Daphne – I watched those in Canada.]

    [Daphne – I can’t really see the connection.]

    Of all this year’s films, and I watched them all, including The Reader and Benjamin, I thought The Wrestler was graphically honest film-making at its best, whilst Milk was truly awesome. Sean Penn deserved that Oscar….no doubt about that.

    Has anyone watched ‘The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas’?

    [Daphne – Not me. I can’t handle that kind of thing, and I go to the cinema for escapism, not to get upset and depressed.]

    I didn’t like the way it ended. Walt sacrificing himself instead of emptying that shotgun on those thugs. Clearly, not the classic Clint Eastwood film.

    [Daphne – It’s a morality tale, for crying out loud.]

    Thank thanks for the plot spoiler…

    @Jack

    Don’t worry, Clint Eastwood is already overloaded with cash.
