Jason loses his memory
On BondiPlus last night, Jason Micallef wanted to know whether Simon Busuttil is going to shoulder the responsibility for the Nationalist Party’s campaign.
Oh yes, of course, Jason: he’s going to ignore those 68,000+ votes and step down because people are clamouring for his blood and he is so obviously damn useless.
Again, both Busuttil and Borg Olivier missed the opportunity to really lay into him. Er, Jason – don’t you remember what happened last year, and the calls for your resignation, which followed? Don’t you remember how you fought to the death to stay in your position, even though everyone was screaming for your head?
Something else: Micallef really ought to be coached in how men argue. When he loses his temper and begins bickering on television his body language and gestures are those of a bitch. And because he doesn’t bat for the other side, that’s really not the best idea.
What an annoying little jerk.

Hasn’t Jason noticed that Simon Busuttil ALONE got 68,000+ votes, which is around 3,000 more than the combined number of votes of Labour’s first three elected MEPs?
Allura x’irid jghid hu?
Probably he’ll say that it’s Busuttil’s fault that he got 68,000+ votes because his name starts with a ‘B’. Obviously, that’s why he got elected the first time round, too.
To be frank I found Borg Olivier’s evasiveness more irritating.
[Daphne – They were both irritating.]
Jason is a good asset. Leave him alone please, Daphne.
Might it not be arguable that Busuttil worked for his own re-election, rather than that of his party? The skewed result – a huge personal gain coupled with a big loss for the PN – would point in that direction.
The PN played a card (perhaps hoping to emulate the success of the “GonziPN” strategy in the general election) and tied the success of the campaign to Busuttil’s popularity.
This time it backfired and probably cost them the 6th seat.
One could argue that without Simon’s solid contribution the results could be worse.
One could also argue that little green men with pink willies built Ggantija.
what does he have to say??? only one word absolute majority of round about 35,000 votes mandy
I hope this helps those who voted for ‘Louis Grech and not Labour’ to understand what it was they voted for exactly:

Why is Anglu Farrugia always on ‘mass-meeting speech’ mode? Does he speak like that even at the cheese counter?
It’s because he needs to be heard from high up on his elephant perch.
Most of them would cringe on hearing Anglu’s comments at the end of the video.
Oh, and why did he say something along the lines of “this is the beginning … the PL MEPs will now START to look after the interests of all Maltese, etc, etc”. Why? Was that not what the previous PL MEPs were meant to be doing?
I really hate Micallef. However we must admit that he is better than Pawlu Borg Olivier. Is it possible that we do not have anyone better than him?
[Daphne – Better? Typical man: if a person looks better then s/he is better. It doesn’t follow. I urge you to remember Micallef in March last year, telling everyone that Labour had won the election, and then whizzing off with the excuse that he had to take Alfred Sant home, and leaving Michael Falzon to face the music alone until 3am. Jason Micallef is the sort of person you’d wipe off the sole of your shoe, but because he uses face-cream and spends a lot of time getting dressed you don’t notice. Men who women don’t like are automatically suspect. This is a valuable piece of advice in every area of life, work and politics.]
Better in what way?
Daphne, ‘Men who women don’t like are automatically suspect’. Gawd you got that right. Got the scars to prove it! Too bad the red Yahoos don’t understand (yet).
“Men who women don’t like are automatically suspect. This is a valuable piece of advice in every area of life, work and politics.”
Oh! I’m OK then.
Michael Grima De Gabriele, who do you mean “we”? Are you pretending to be a PN supporter? You’re an obnoxious Labour ‘elve’ who was less than civil towards Daphne a few days ago.
Nothing wrong with the videos in my opinion. Very civilized.
[Daphne – That’s because you don’t see Anglu Farrugia through my eyes, while the chant ‘Viva l-Labour’ does not provoke the same Pavlovian reaction. By standing side by side with Anglu Farrugia, Edward Scicluna and Louis Grech demean and embarrass themselves. So much for the sophistication.]
I think that in the end the PL voters have won the day not by winning 3 +1 seats for their party but by finally electing Louis Grech, Prof. Ed. Scicluna and Dr. Attard Montalto. In my opinion they are the only electable candidates on the PL’s ticket.
With reference to the PN’s candidates Simon is the front runner in competence, and Roberta Metsola deserved much better. Casa in my opinion is one heck of a very lucky person. Like Cuschieri not really MEP material.
Going back to the subject, Jason should have been ousted from his job a year ago, and Pawlu of the PN was never really invited to contest for the position by the PN. He thought that he could handle the job but he does not hold a candle to Joe Saliba.
Finesse, what’s that? Anglu’s finesse resembles that of a rough sheet of sandpaper, and that’s being kind.
But that’s your opinion. Thousands of others did not give a hoot about that.
Whose side are you on, Mary?
Daphne
Anglu Farrugia et al’s hold on the party will remain exactly the same notwithstanding the result of this election…the culture of resignations is not exactly a pillar of PL (you may read Maltese) politics. I voted for Louis Grech…that vote also went to PL of course, but please take off your blinkers and acknowledge that my vote to a very capable MEP does not place the rest of his party in government.
I can try to understand (although I did not go through your personal experiences) the feeling of dread when you see AF et al…but voting for Louis on the basis of his track record as MEP is not the same as voting for PL in 2008/13….I hope we can agree on that.
[Daphne – Yes, we agree on that. But I trust you also see that your act in voting Labour in this election helped undermine the government and thus increases the chances of Labour being elected in 2013. Adults are responsible for the full consequences of their actions and should not seek to justify them or use ameliorating excuses. Louis Grech may be as capable as they come, but as long as he stands on the Labour ticket I will never vote for him. The consequences of voting Labour, in this election, are the undermining of the government. And if you can’t see that, you know precious little about politics.]
Unless you look at it from two different points of view:
1. my vote might act as a wake up call for the government to get its act together faster;
2. my vote might (I’ll venture a “will” here, considering the current PL leadership’s self satisfied nature/reaction to this victory) lead the PL leadership into thinking that they’re REALLY building a progressive coalition, which includes people like me, who according to their flawed thinking will vote for them in 2013.
I agree that I am fully responsible for the consequences of my vote and these two scenarios are in no way an attempt at justifying it; they merely present an alternative to your theory of undermining. My only justification for my vote is LG’s track record as an MEP.
[Daphne – Oh, Louis Grech! For a moment there I thought you meant Lawrence Gonzi. I must be tired.]
There’s nothing to distinguish between Jason and Pawlu, really. Yes, we remember Jason last year, Pawlu’s time will come too. Hasn’t he already messed up enough with his Outlook Express?
Take a good look in the mirror and see yourself for who you really are A PN LACKEY!
