Talk of arrogance – it's all the rage again

Removing me is arrogance. Parking myself here is not.

Removing me is arrogance. Parking myself here is not.

The two new buzz-words are ‘arrogance’ and ‘betrayal’.

Unfortunately, those who are justified in their opinion that the government behaves with ‘arrogance’ in their regard, or who have been promised something which hasn’t been delivered, are let down by those who fail to see that it is their own expectations which are the height of arrogance.

Here are the people who parked their caravans on somebody else’s land at Gnejna, with no permit to do so because Gnejna is not a designated caravan site, calling the MEPA (and hence the government, in their minds) arrogant for removing them this morning.

“We feel betrayed, why did they not come here before the election?”

“We are not disturbing anyone and we keep the place tidy and use mobile toilets.”

“Why this arrogance, why are we being treated like criminals, we have done nothing wrong.”

They claimed – Mediterranean island style – that the first they knew about it was when the cranes turned up. But MEPA officials pointed out that all caravan owners had received several enforcement notices, which they ignored.

Most of the caravan owners drove the caravans away before they were removed. And they found an alternative place for them in the Gnejna car park. That, I suppose, isn’t presumptuous arrogance either.

If this had happened before the election, then some would have said that this move was a gimmick, and now they are demanding to know why the government didn’t tell them before the election.

They are the Maltese equivalent of the trailer park trash.

I hope the good people of Mgarr will have the courage to support MEPA’s actions. SuperOne is obviously presenting the caravan owners as victims.

Let’s get the Brainiac team here. They love blowing up caravans.

[Daphne – Careful, or the literal Maltese mind will interpret this as incitement to violence.]

    • Pat says:

Well, according to your latest article people should be grateful and congratulate me for not actually blowing them up. On the other hand Joseph Muscat should severely thank Lou Bondi for not punching him in the face.

Yes, the literal Maltese mind almost got me arrested because I commented on a ridiculous story about hunting. Be careful. This blog is read by sane people but it’s also read by people who don’t even know a sense of humour unless it’s drastically low end and ultra slapstick.

They “take for themselves” in a big way, which is why Super One is defending their patch. It goes something like this. “Sftattakom minn hemm …il-Gvern”, ” Dal-gvern jghakkes il-fqir u l-batut li miskin ma jistax jaffordja flett hdejn il bahar!”……it goes on and on. This is the New Coalition. A coalition of envious, hate-filled resentful towards Gonzi or anything PN, who think have the right to free electricity, subsidised water, jobs mal-gvern where they scratch their balls all day, free housing and generally protection from whatever ugliness life throws their way. People like this haven’t gone away. They have multiplied.

Caravans and boats parked in streets in urban areas and roads should be removed by the authorities forthwith.
All caravans and shanty towns exploiting public land around the Maltese shoreline and seaside resorts should be removed by the police and Jason Azzopardi.

Illegal structures, bars, snack bars (take a look at St. Thomas Bay/Marsascala) should be removed now not during the peak of summer.

Seaside resorts and the shoreline should be left accessible to the general public and not simply to a few bullies and other egocentric individuals. Tosti u arroganti bil-Malti.
