Those who are in the lead so far

In the lead.....obviously
The only two candidates with a clear lead are Simon Busuttil and Louis Grech. All others are still way behind, but those in the lead on the Labour ticket (after Grech) are Edward Scicluna and Joseph Cuschieri, trailed by Marlene Mizzi. Those in the lead on the Nationalist Party ticket (after Busuttil) are David Casa followed by Roberta Tedesco Triccas and Vince Farrugia. Simon Busuttil has the clear lead overall.

Just hoping that Marlene Mizzi would take over Joseph Cuschieri and RMTT would take over David Casa…
… or is it impossible?
[Daphne – It’s much too early to tell. Things will be clearer at around 1am, and I’ll still be posting updates then. For a variety of reasons, sorting and counting are well behind schedule.]
Dear Antimony
a determing factor that almost always determines the fate of candidate is the alphabetical order of the names placed on the ballot paper. First count preferences don’t really matter unless very low & thus the candidate gets eliminated immediately. David Casa may well start with a low first count tally but then when votes are transferred is he in a very advantageous position because his surname starts with a “C” & so he is the second placed name on the ballot sheet.
Dear Labour supporters,
Don’t you realise that these victories are counterproductive? It’s the general election which yields the real power.
Well, it’s not in our interest to be represented by goons in Europe.
If we are going to have three PL candidates elected, I hope at least they will be Grech, Scicluna and Mizzi – at least they can be decent when away form their marmalja. As to PN, I am also hoping that Roberta MTT obtains more twos from Simon than David Casa. Any indication where the fourth seat is going? Surely not the AD.
[Daphne – The sixth seat: so far the indication is that it will go to a PN candidate.]
Will we be sending David Casa (again) and Joseph Cuschieri to represent Malta in the European Parliament?
Now what will they think? That the Maltese are all like them?
Hardly an attractive prospect!
As I wrote lately, I still cannot fathom how we sent Casa instead of Ms Drake in 2004.
[Daphne – When you say ‘we’, does that mean you voted in 2004, unlike this time?]
… so much for the surveys which indicated John Attard Montalto in the lead for PL (smirk smirk… that’s me not JAM)
@Tony Pace – No prizes for guessing who will be bringing out her champagne today.
Could be Joseph Cuschieri…………..Heaven above, someone, somewhere HELP.
I was referring to a HER, not to a HIM.
The position of one’s name on the ballot paper does not automatically mean second vote preference. During the 1994 local council elections I was in the 13th position alphabetically and still managed to get elected even though I was up against people who lived and worked in the community much before my arrival. The majority vote with their heads and not in a parrot-like fashion giving first preference to the name at the top of the list and continuing going down in number order.
[Daphne – There were very many PN ballot-sheets like that, the reason being that Simon Busuttil was first on the list and also by far the most favoured candidate. After choosing Busuttil, people may have been indifferent to the rest, and just went down the list in alphabetical order.]
Deidun should have had a better result. Ahjar kien kunjomu Carabott.
[Daphne – If you think so, then you should have voted for him, instead of not voting at all.]
If you ask me the PN had six very elligible candidates out of ten. Worst in my opinion is David Casa.
The PL had just two eligible candidates out of 12, Louis and the Professor. That guy Zammit from Gozo takes the dunce’s hat hands down. What a twerp.
