PL denies Sandro Chetcuti links to Business Forum
The PL’s Business Forum this evening expressed its solidarity with GRTU Director General Vince Farrugia after he was assaulted yesterday.
It stressed that his alleged attacker, Sandro Chetcuti, was never part of the forum and never had any contact with it.
Mr Chetcuti was taken to court this morning and accused of the attempted murder of Mr Farrugia.
I think the Labour Party had better sack Marisa Micallef and ask for its money back. If this is the best she can do, and we’re still three years away from a general election, she’d better get her act together sharpish.
Sandro Chetcuti never had anything to do with Labour’s Business Forum. Yes, right. So what was he doing, organising dinners at Madliena Cottage for Joseph Muscat to meet what pass for captains of industry on these islands?
Oh, please don’t tell me that he was operating in competition with Marlene Business Forum and Manuel Mallia ta’ sittin sena bil-babies. What, doesn’t My Dear Joseph trust Marlene to set up meetings with Big Cheeses, or are all the cheeses she knows currently locked up at Mount Carmel?
No nudging and winking, folks. It’s not allowed.
Perhaps the Labour Party should have qualified its press statement, to make it even more Fantozzi-like.
‘The PL’s Business Forum stressed that Sandro Chetcuti was never part of the forum and never had any contact with it. The Business Forum’s poster-boy Emmanuel Mallia is his defence lawyer, but the PL stresses that any contact they may have in this capacity will be strictly when Dr Mallia has taken off his Business Forum hat.’

Well well what next? This is as interesting as a Fantozzi film.
What a sorry excuse for a political party. And to think that there are 140,000 ready to vote PL drives me insane. A new sub-zero I.Q. scale has yet to be invented in order to gauge these people’s intelligence deficiency.
Jose Herrera should be immediately appointed head of the ‘moderates’ within the LP. Yes, moderately raunchy.
Sandro should head the LP’s security squad. He sure can land a few good ones pretty fast.
Can anyone get me the Suicide Help Desk number?
From the photo it looks like a bit of arm-twisting is going on. Perhaps Marlene Mizzi didn’t want to share a glass of tea with the grass-roots and they had to drag her to the bar. I hope they didn’t ruin her Karen Millen jacket.
Fantozzi films make more sense than this farce.
Daphne should check DI-VE.
There are several articles starting from the PL denial that Sandro Chetcuti is part of the Business Forum to Zeppi l-Hafi’s story.
The funny part is that the usual place for readers’ comments disappeared from all but Zeppi l-Hafi’s story!
Hmmm….
Let’s put it this way, I will not spend time or tears on Zeppi – besides what he did would not have been noticed by any journalist had it been anyone else. What I do say is that I do not agree with the court’s ruling.
With Sandro Chetcut’s case he attacked a public figure. Enough said.
[Daphne – Sandro is one of those, too, and now more than ever.]
And then there’s another Sandro who made the headlines yesterday:

Labour seem to have conveniently forgotten him.
Daphne I’m still young and learning about politics but I can’t understand why all this hype about this unknown guy Sandro is being made? On the other hand when the Bona guy was killed a couple of weeks ago no mention was made on this blog?
Now I’m comparing like with like, even moreso one murder was attempted, perhaps it was just a big “xebgha'” whereas the other occurred. Why are some murders reported here with all details and others not?
I apologise for my naivete but I’m still a very young person who can only compare like with like and not what is happening now with what happened in this country 30 or 40 years ago.
[Daphne – Because these are two political figures, and not two pimps or moneylenders or whatever the other two are/were.]

Just because you’re young (I’m taking your word for it but flavouring it with a pinch of salt) does not mean you have to ignore what happened in the past. Comparing like with like means, for example, comparing the rabble which invaded Valletta last Monday with that which had invaded it on a darker Monday 30 years ago.
I never intended to ignore. But being in my late 20s today it’s difficult to remember which disgraces happened way back then. I only remember 1996-1998 when…… nothing significant happened?
If you can read, which I suppose you can, you can go to the National library (that’s in Pjazza Regina) and you can browse through the newspapers and read about what you, fortunately, missed during the ‘golden era’ of the socialist administration. You can also go to any booksellers and you can find books relating to that era. You cannot compare what happened last Monday with what happened in Malta’s dark ages (1971-1987). They are the same perpetrators with the same agenda. Only previously they could do what they liked because they were in power.
At this point, I am expecting the PL to come out (!) and tell us that Manuel Mallia was never part of the Labour Business Forum and never had any contact with it.
Fantozzi contro tutti.
Not like me C.Galea. I remember what happened 30 years ago and also something significant in 1998: the fall of Labour government.
Marlene Mizzi is ridiculous, all dressed up in Burberry, Chanel, Bulgari etc, hugging the working class with attire from fuq il-Monti. At least she should have the good sense to dress down in these meetings if she wants to bridge the gap, rather than rubbing it in.
@c galea
Being in your late 20s you should ask your parents what we went through prior to 1987.
Did anyone take note of Sandro’s defence team? One of his lawyers works for Anglu Farrugia’s firm. They haven’t washed their hands of him completely.
