The less honour they have, the harder they protect it
Hunt that woman down, because if she says on radio that I took a bribe, people might believe her.
Imagine having the police hunt down some anonymous woman who rings Fr Colin’s radio talk-show to accuse you of taking a bribe for deciding a case one way or another.
These talk-shows are stiff with cranks accusing everyone of everything, and if we all got the police onto them, the police would have no time to do anything else.
Going by the sort of people who take me to court for libel – Dom Mintoff, Karmenu Mifsud Bonnici, Mary Anthony Sammut (dak tar-revolver u l-ajruplan), Godfrey Grima, Toni Abela, Anglu Farrugia, Charlon Gouder, Consuelo Scerri Herrera, Giannella Caruana Curran, Norman Lowell’s ex girlfriend and Consuelo’s party guest Arlette Baldacchino – I’m beginning to think that the less honour and integrity people have, the harder they fight to protect it, using all means possible.

Mara mill-Qrendi takkuża Maġistrat b’korruzzjoni
Mara mill-Qrendi se tgħaddi proċeduri kriminali quddiem il-Maġistrat Audrey Demicoli wara li allegatament ċemplet fuq stazzjon tar-radju u għajjret Maġistrat li xxaħħmet biex tat sentenza ta’ ħabs fuq il-qtil involontarju ta’ ħames guvintur.
Din il-mara se twieġeb fuq akkużi ta’ inġurji li allegatament ghamlet fil-konfront tal-Maġistrat Consuelo Scerri Herrera waqt il-qadi tad-dmirijiet tagħha bl-iskop li tnaqqas jew ittelfilha mill-ġieh tagħha.
Il-każ hu konness ma’ telefonata li saret nhar is-16 ta’ Mejju bil-lejl fuq programm tar-radju mmexxi minn Father Colin u li f’din it-telefonata l-mara allegat li l-Maġistrat Consuelo Scerri Herrera irċeviet flus mingħand xi persuni.
It-telefonata saret jumejn biss wara li ngħatat sentenza ta’ tliet snin ħabs lil Cassar mill-istess Maġistrat Consuelo Scerri Herrera wara li sabitu ħati ta’ qtil involontarju ta’ ħames ġuvintur mill-Qrendi f’inċident li kien seħħ sentejn ilu f’Ħaż-Żebbuġ.
F’dan il-kaz, il-Qorti setgħet tagħti piena massima ta’ erba’ snin u tliet xhur. Sadattant kienet l-istess Maġistrat Consuelo Scerri Herrera li insistiet mal-Pulizija sabiex din it-telefonata tigi investigata.

Daphne, keep pushing in… never stop… Always be strong. Corruption is in the air. We need to stop it… and that what you’re doing.
Daphne, do we know what the outcome of the court proceedings against this woman? Since 2007 there should have been a decision, shouldn’t there? If so it would be interesting to see if the woman was actually found guilty or not.

I’d seen that report and did wonder, if your reputation is strong enough, why would you be worried by such a comment? And if you want to be sure that your reputation is intact, why not issue a statement to clarify any misunderstanding, or get your lawyer to do so in your name?
Consuelo is trying to defend that little shred of dignity she has left no matter what.

Well…the rarer the commodity, the more precious it is I suppose!
I think that the Magistrate did the right thing. One cannot undermine the credibility of the judiciary with radio phone ins.

The judiciary seem to be doing a very good job of it themselves – at least from what I can recall to date, what with Arrigo, Vella, and now Scerri-Herrera
I am starting to believe that, in the case of some people, the body mass increases to compensate for the loss of their integrity.

Maybe the woman from Qrendi MISTOOK her for Noel Arrigo.
He certainly appears to have been an inspiration to the lady from Qrendi.
