Aleks Farrugia: if I keep this up long enough, somebody might mistake me for Oliver Friggieri.

Aleks Farrugia: if I keep this up long enough, somebody might mistake me for Oliver Friggieri.

Aleks Farrugia (don’t confuse him with the secretary-general of Forum Zghazagh Laburisti; this one edits It-Torca) has announced on Facebook with a sigh of relief that his newspaper’s ‘Pope’ pull-out special is ready at last.

Aleks Farrugia
Is-suppliment tal-Papa ghall-Hadd li gej fl-ahhar lest…

While Aleks himself is anything but keen on the Pope and Catholicism, and clings to the Labour Party’s official veneer of anti-clericalism, he knows that his party’s supporters are among the most religiously conservative in the country, even if only in name.

Why miss an opportunity to ratchet up sales and advertising?

Is-suppliment tal-Papa fit-Torca: now there’s a bit of an oxymoron.

Christ Almighty, this guy needs to get to the beach and get a suntan!

Does he need to inform the readers of the Torca that he is intellectually challenged?

“Why miss an opportunity to ratchet up sales and advertising?”

    …even when you’re a radical humanist?

Is he sitting in the bathroom?

That’s the last thing the Pope needs: his picture in the Torca.

Yes Troy – next to Fr Colin’s.

    Hey Daph,

The elves at Maltastar/TasteYourOwnMedicine have been so busy squirreling around in your father’s family and your husband’s that they’ve forgotten your mother’s.

[Daphne – I don’t think they forgot. I think they’ve taken a commercial decision not to upset a major advertiser.]

  7. Alfred Zammit seems to quote the Catholic religion and values in his One programme on a regular basis. Fr Charles Tabone praises him for his policy and that of One TV and constantly tells him how he and the Archbishop appreciate all this.

    What Pope? It-Torca Labour hypocrites.

    • maryanne says:

Hypocrites is the right word. They do a supplement on Sunday to boost sales and then they come out with a ‘wonderful’ welcome title on today’s l-Orizzont.
