Errrr, is the 2013 general election going to be fought between Gonzi and Fenech Adami?
A current headline on timesofmalta.com:
Gonzi not as good as Fenech Adami in economic management – Muscat
It’s interesting that Joseph Muscat should draw an ‘economic management’ comparison between Gonzi and Fenech Adami rather than between him and Gonzi.
Fenech Adami’s economic management skills are not an issue here, because the choice we face is between Joseph Muscat and Lawrence Gonzi. So what Muscat should be telling us is why he is better than Gonzi and not why Fenech Adami is.
As for that observation on the relative nature of Gonzi’s and Fenech Adami’s economic management skills, perhaps Muscat thinks we have forgotten that he began his karriera as a Super One reporter, heckling Fenech Adami until he was red in the face and his mouth stretched from ear to ear like that of a bull-frog.
He’s not the greatest of analysts, either. Fenech Adami was a political visionary who changed the country unimaginably for the better, but economic management and money were definitely not his forte. He left that sort of thing to others.
They are definitely Gonzi’s, and the results are obvious to all but a political party led by a chicken nugget and a goose bla bajd.

We have to thank Joseph Muscat for reminding us from time to time about the former great leaders of the PN, who secured big achievements for this little country, including its independence and joining the EU, besides of course liberating us from Labour governments.
Gonzi continues on the economic success of previous Nationalist governments. His government has done a sterling job in managing the economy during the Great Recession. Joseph Muscat will one day acknowledge this – with hindsight, of course, because he has no foresight.
Joey, Fenech Adami did not manage Malta’s economy.
He created it from scratch.
There was nothing before him but izra u rabbi, bahhar u sewwi, kalaxlokk, tourists washing themselves in sea water, daily power cuts and the Strowger telephone exchange.
Gonzi is now just beginning to manage the economy which is still in its infancy, birth throes and all.
Judging from what foreign experts are saying, he does not seem to be doing very badly.
In fact he is doing quite well and this is exactly why Joey is attacking him on this score.
Joey, we want to hear what you can do better now and not what EFA did in the years after that epic tragedy that afflicted Malta for sixteen years.
Sorry Anthony, but besides Izra u Rabbi, Bahhar u Sewwi and Kalaxlokk there was also WELLED U REDDA.
Actually you forgot the 400 mln Mintoff left in the coffers, and you seem to be blind enough not to see the reality we are facing with the national debths these days.Is this the economy in it’s infancy you refer to?Record debths.
This is exactly why the situation was so tragic.
We had millions in coffers.
We also had :
No water. No telephones. Intermittent electricity supply. No jobs. No doctors in our hospitals. No computers. No real tertiary education. No toothpaste. No tea. No rice. No chocolate. No nothing.
Mintoff ran the country like he ran his household.
He would give his poor wife fifty cents once a week to go to the Paola market to buy fresh fish. He had millions stacked away.
National economies are not run with money in coffers but with vision, confidence in your fellow countrymen and the creation of work opportunities and wealth.
Money in coffers is economic taboo.
Super One propagandist to prime minister with four years as an MEP in between: only in Malta.
Unelected Leader of the Opposition: only in Malta.
Did anyone watch Bondi Plus yesterday? Did you listen to Charles Mangion who, God forbid, could be our future money man? He could not answer Lou’s question re the Eur 444 million deficit if Labour introduced its wish list.
This figure does not include the living wage. I am scared. Big time.
Haven’t we seen it all already? First we promise heaven on earth and then when we get elected, we find a ‘hofra’.
Yes, I watched Bondi+. I guess it’s back to the drawing-board for Captain Hindsight after those telephone polls.
Albert, the funny thing is that with the ‘400 millions’ that Mintoff had in his kaxxa, we were deprived of all the basic needs. While with the present national debts we have a comfortable life. If you have any doubts just refer to our statistics.
