Stacy the Stooge and now…Randolph the KullHadd reporter
Well, so much for The Times reporter Kurt Sansone’s ‘random vox pop’ of protestors at Friday’s ‘prezz tal-gass’ rally.
First we had Stacy the Stooge, who – my, what a coincidence – also appeared in random vox pops in It-Torca and in the Labour Party’s official newspaper KullHadd.
And now it’s dawned on me – at last – that another of the protestors Sansone interviewed at random is actually a reporter working for – yes, you’ve got it – the Labour Party’s newspaper, KuillHadd.
Randolph Debattista, 23
“The situation in the country is becoming more unacceptable for many families. People are genuinely hurt because they are not coping with the cost of living and the fact that ministers took a handsome wage rise behind everybody’s back is not the way politics should be conducted. This has bothered me and that is why I am here.”
Well, maybe Kurt Sansone wasn’t wearing his spectacles that night and didn’t recognise him in the dark.

I’m sure Randolph Debattista gave his comment in Maltese so the ungrammatical mess of that paragraph is Sansone’s own work. The Times has come a long way: downhill.
Randolph Debattista is also a 5th year (if I’m not mistaken) law student and ex-President of the PULSE organisation, which is the Labour equivalent of SDM but has been superseded by a bunch of ‘progressive students’ called MOVE.
Malta zghira u in-nies maghrufa.
I’m glad to see you back in fine fettle. For a while you had me worried – I thought the LP had lost a major asset.
[Daphne – Well, I try my best, chavsRus, but you know, the Labour Party never takes my advice. It prefers rushing headlong at a concrete wall, even if that concrete wall comes in the guise of, as Sant discovered, electoral victory.]
Truth be told, chavsRus, you were more worried that while Daphne was taking some well deserved time off, you were starved of valuable information about your own party and what’s happening in the inner circles.
She seems to know more abour your party than you do.
Why worry about the LP losing a major asset? The LP is stacked with plenty of sets of asses.
Matt, as a university student, you should know better. Pulse was not superseded by Move. Both organisations still exist and operate in parallel today. Pulse activists do vow, however, that they are not Labour or Socialist, even though Randolph’s successor, Tyson Fenech, was also present at the protest.
[Daphne – TYSON FENECH? I’m off to make a cup of tea and try to forget for a while that people who name their children for a boxer’s SURNAME have a vote, and of course, choose Labour.]
Are you kidding me? Haven’t you ever heard that name before? Tyson was on the news the days after that KSU’s ‘rigged’ AGM was held. He’s now been replaced as president, but I don’t know what the latter’s name is.
Apologies for the misuse of the word ‘superseded’ – indeed, I knew that they both still exist; what I meant to say was that MOVE seems to be more active than Pulse on University campus nowadays.
Poor use of the English language is what happens when you post a comment just after you’ve gotten out of bed!
Tyson Fenech, by the way, is on a par with Fgura mayor Byron Camilleri’s poor name, in my books.
So now we have Charlon, Jason, Byon, Derston, Quinton, and TYSON.
And they say they’re not the party of chavs.
Daphne – I am a bit taken aback by the arrest and strip search of my old friend Yves Cali’. What’s going on?
[Daphne – I’m saving this for my Thursday column. I have a lot to say about it.]
Admittedly The Times reporter should have added a qualifying statement describing who Randolph Debattista is. It’s public knowledge anyway that he is involved with Pulse.
Not that we give a hoot about Pulse as they are a bunch of wannabes, “iz-Zghazagh Ma’ Joseph” – give us a break!
What is the equivalent of a Hockey Mom in Malta? I am sure we will see some banner like that soon: “Ommijiet bla Gass Ma’ Michelle” or “Ommijiet li jiehdu t-tfal ghall-Ba-Le ma’ Michelle”.
The best one I can think of is “Chavs for Joe”.
MUSEUM Mums.
Or Mumseums.
Oh and before I forget, I think for the moment Kurt Sansone should be kept to write the weather page.
You cannot be taken seriously after that gaffe.
I wonder if the other papers reciprocated by having Kurt Sansone as a random interviewee.
Kurt Sansone was interviewed by ONE TV about the BWSC “case” two weeks ago.
how The Times allows a member of its newsroom to comment freely on a political party TV channel is beyond belief.
X’Gharukaza! X’qatta hamallagni fuq hawn fuq dan il-Blog! Intom is-suppost elitisti nazzjonalisti? Intom tghajjru lill-Laburisti hamalli??
[Daphne – And if John Bundy needed any more proof that he’s now considered part and parcel of Labour, this is it: the inward rush of cretinism in his support, last seen when I wrote about Mintoff.]
The truth hurts. In general, everyone is affected by this situation in Malta, and needless to say decisions taken by the current elected party have significantly bothered and uneased everyone.
By launching the protest no harm was done as it is everyone’s right, but as I can say independently, it was rightly to do so to make aware of the situation.
