As 12,000 people from 89 states are evacuated through Malta in just a few days, as military aircraft, commercial planes, cruise ships, catamarans and ships from different navies use Grand Harbour and Malta International Airport as an operational base in a massive rescue mission, the Labour Party’s spokesman for transport and maritime affairs releases a statement.

Mahruga Dr.Joseph Sammut, Kelliem Ewlieni Laburista ghat-Trasport u Affarijiet Marittimi

Inkonvenjent ghal minn juza t-trasport pubbliku

Mijiet ta’ persuni li juzaw it-trasport pubbliku dalghodu sabu ruhhom imhollija fil-Park and Ride ta’ Blata l-Bajda minflok f’ Bieb il-Belt, wara decizjoni bla konsultazzjoni u avviz min-naha ta’ Transport Malta.

Il-mod kif l-awtoritajiet ma jinfurmawx lil pubbliku dwar bidla tant importanti, anki jekk hija temporanja, turi arroganza u s-sens ta disrispett lejn il-konsumaturi.

Il-PL jinsisti illi din it-tip ta inefficjenza, nuqqas ta ko-ordinazzjoni u ppjanar ma jawgura xejn tajjeb ghal futur, specjalment meta gejjin minn tmexxija ta’ Transport Malta li hija mhallsa ammonti kbar.

  1. John Sammut says:

While Rome burns, Nero played the lyre, the story goes. Joe Sammut is doing something similar.

  2. Suldat ta’ l-azzar Guzeppin says:

It-tifel “Tal-Bikkej” tkellem! Dan hu dak li qala’ lil-Reno Calleja taghna minn deputat parlamentari.

  3. K Farrugia says:

I don’t expect something better from an MP who, when I reached the required age, sent me a letter encouraging me to go to his office so that he could help me apply to join the Armed Forces. I was a full-time student at the time, but it didn’t stop the attempt at patronage.

  4. Joanne says:

    Xi tfisser “imhollija”?

Mil kontenut tinduna xi jrid jghid, pero bhala kelma, ma nista nsiba fl-ebda dizzjunarju.

    • Dictionary says:

      ‘imhollija’ gejja minn ‘thalli’

      • Joanne says:

        Grazzi.

      • Imma xorti Malti hazin. M’ghandniex ekwivalent preciz tal-passiv fil-Malti allura l-ewwel nahsbuha kif kieku tinghad bl-Ingliz u mbaghad naqilbuha ghall-Malti. Ghalhekk insibu frejjeg bhal:

Mijiet ta’ persuni li juzaw it-trasport pubbliku dalghodu sabu ruhhom imhollija fil-Park and Ride ta’ Blata l-Bajda

Il-hames (jew is-seba’ forma) jaqdu dak l-ghan tajjeb hafna u jilqghulna ghajnejna (u l-kilba ghas-sbuhija) minn pastazati bhal:

        sabu ruhhom imhollija (thallew)
        gie mormi (intrema)
        emmnut (twemmen)
        ecc

PLUS jekk xejn imhollija minn halla(j) mhux minn thalli (= to leave, abandon)

      • M Fenech says:

Mhux ahjar qal mitluqin, jew abbandunati halli jkollha effett melodrammatiku?

  5. Hot Mama says:

Imma kif ma jisthux dawn in-nies?

  6. Fair deal says:

Nahseb li Dr Joseph Sammut ghandu zball kbir. Kien hemm avviz fil-gazzetti granet ilu ta’ kif kien se jahdem it-trasport pubbliku mil-Park and Ride minn illum.

  7. Fair deal says:

Veru li kien hemm konfuzjoni kbira u nispera li s-sitwazzjoni titjieb.

    • Hot Mama says:

Nahseb qed jghidu l-istess dawk li qed jistennew li jigu evakwati mil-Libja!

Kemm ninghu….dan kollu ghax ridna nimxu ftit jew naqbdu l-vans. Dalghodu imxejtha u b’daqshekk?

  8. pm says:

I’m sorry Mr Sammut, but I had read and heard about this change at least on Friday. My information was that people were going to be dropped in Sarria Street, and the buses will continue to the Park and Ride.

Furthermore, people could be picked up by the empty buses at the same drop of place, and taken to the Park and Ride to continue to their destination. Finally this is going to be in place until the carnival enclosure is taken down.

  9. willywonka says:

I mean, really, what else do you expect from Joe Sammut?

  10. Grezz says:

To some people, Malta will always be the centre of the universe, whatever else is going on in the world.

  11. La Redoute says:

    Dry wit on BBC World

2137: If you haven’t already listened to Col Gaddafi’s interview with the BBC’s Jeremy Bowen, then the website now has a transcript you might like to read. We’ve done our best to transcribe all of it – even the bits that are almost unintelligible.

  12. Mark says:

What is happening in Libya (with all the implications for Malta) doesn’t mean that we forget that life in Malta still has to go on.
