The rewriting of history (preceded by serious self-delusion) is well underway

George Vella, shadow minister for foreign affairs, speaking yesterday:

“The Labour Party supported the Maltese government since the beginning of the conflict, and would not even have objected to military involvement, once there was a UN resolution. But we were not consulted.”

Libya: Malta should continue to be prudent – Joseph Muscat

Malta should continue to be prudent, serving as a Mediterranean hub and keeping its security as the utmost priority, Labour leader Joseph Muscat said this morning.

Interviewed on One by journalist Charmaine Craus, Dr Muscat said that there seemed to be a consensus in Malta on the country’s foreign policy.

Both the Prime Minister and himself, Dr Muscat said, had declared independently of one another, that Malta should not serve as a military base.

Malta’s aspirations were not of a military nature and while the country had a duty to follow UN resolutions, it did not have aspirations to serve as a military base. It seems this was also the Prime Minister’s position.

If anything, Dr Muscat said, Malta should serve as a humanitarian hub. All those in need should be able to find their assistance in Malta. It should be the country which helped the Libyan people.

The opposition leader said the people seemed to be appreciating more the need to be prudent.

“We have to keep in mind our size and historic mission and it is better, at this point, to say less rather than more. Our security has to be our utmost priority. We have been prudent and we will continue to be so.”

Yesterday, KMB was at it again on Smash TV with Emmy Bezzina.

He yelled down the phone that Gaddafi ‘did not start it’ but that it was all NATO’s , the UN’s and Al QAEDA’S fault for backing the rebels against their lawful leader.

    • anthony says:

Gaddafi is not to blame for starting anything.

He was only interested in suppressing his fellow Libyans (who started the revolt) so that he could continue squirrelling away billions for himself and his dynasty.

The status quo ante suited Gaddafi (and it seems also KMB) fine.

  2. Bob says:

KMB should be investigated for crimes against the Maltese people.

    • Dee says:

Crimes against the Libyan people, you mean.

He’s the one who saved Gaddafi from Reagan and Thatcher’s bombs and inflicted the man on Libya for another quarter-century.

    • KMB should be investigated for delusion, madness and senility.

[Daphne – It’s not senility, Adrian. He was exactly the same in 1984.]

      • Dee says:

Was he already senile in the 1980s when he did and said all that?

He sounds exactly the same on Smash TV today as he did then.

      • anthony says:

It is unkind to go into details of the pathology – however, senility is not a feature here.

      • Yanika says:

Come on, people… don’t be ageists! Old people are more intelligent than that.

    Wiccu u sormu xorta.

I can’t help that remark – he deserves it.

I hope those PN whiners realise what a complete and utter disaster these lot are and that electing them is equivalent dooming Malta to an economic and social disaster.

I just hope that there are going to be enough places on the planes out of here if this lot ever make it to power.

Headline news on ONE radio RIGHT NOW! Gonzi invited Gaddafi to Malta during his visit which took place five days before the uprising. During the visit he watched a football match with the tyrant.

    Quick, the smelling salts.

  6. Joe Micallef says:

Vella’s wall could easily be the wall of shame – not that he knows the value.

When George Vella is given airtime it usually means one thing: damage control with the hardcore.

The only one to survive the 1996 ‘winning team’, and with his power base in Zejtun.

Who’s the fat man with the vacant stare in the background?

  10. red nose says:

Diring the Golden Years under Mintoff, I once went to Sicily to buy some toothpaste and chocolates for my children.

On Syracuse quay there was a man who shouted VIVA MINTOFF (he was selling the items I was after froma van) – there was a queue – when my turn came I asked him why his praise for Mintoff. His simple answer was: “He made me a rich man”.
