But you can’t take such comments seriously.
Let’s take it to an extreme and say that they tie your fingers together and physically gag you. Then what? The ideas still haven’t been disproved.
Besides, it’s symptomatic of muddled thinking that there is no separation of the argument from the person presenting it.
They don’t realise the irony of it, do they? If the government were to silence people – and they would be wrong to do so in the first place – then they would start with the likes of Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando, Jesmond Mugliett and their ilk.
Then again, Jeffrey’s acolytes are to thick to even realise what they are asking for.

Malcolm Seychell is hardly in a position to talk about attakki personali, when he posts spiteful comments on a racist forum as ‘Malsey’.
Just because people hate you and would like to prevent you from publishing your writings, does not necessarily mean that a Labour government will come down on you.
In fact the idea is preposterous. Rest assured that despite the fact that what you write is absolute rubbish, there are many Labour supporters like myself who would defend your right to freedom of speech until the very last. You are aware of this fact, and I am only writing it here for the sake of your readers.

I’ve been on Jaffrey’s Facebook page and there is a string of prosits coming from people who ‘ma jaqblux mieghu politikament imma prosit!!!!’
This is a farce….plain and simple.
Jaffrey is the new Labour messiah and is trying to keep his balancing act going by attracting sympathy from people who won’t vote for him. Another political stooge who seks revenge for not being given a hot seat in the cabinet after his scandal in 2008, when he was exposed by Sant on the eve of the election.
Lou Carabott, whoever you are, wherever you are, you must be too young (like Joseph), too naive and too shortsighted.
If you think that Daphne is ‘dirty, hateful and malicious’ then you should review the Labour Party’s history, the one your leader is so desperate to erase and/or rewrite.
All you have to do, Lou, is to get hold of some videos of both the NP and LP general conferences and run them side by side. You will see the difference between the NP’s upbeat atmosphere, confidence in Malta’s future and plans for more of the same. You see happy faces, hopeful faces and confident faces.
Then look at the LP video. What do you see? Sullen faces, angry faces, fist thumping and desperate individual. Hopeless individuals with no sense of direction, spewing personal insults at the highest authorities and vague plans in the eventuality of assuming power. “Elect us first, find out later what our plans are” kind of rhetoric which unfortunately is swallowed hook, line and sinker by the wide mouth guppies.
If your Party welcomes the likes of JPO, Engerers and more NP rejects, it shows you how shallow, how poor and how much the LP lacks in principles and how dangerous it will be if come 2013, they march up the Castille stairs.
With a 70s and 80s mentality, they will certainly include in some capacity, the likes of Joe Grima, Alex Sciberras Trigona, Karmenu Vella and other relics of the blackest era of the Maltese political scene.
Then your liberty, your prosperity and your peace of mind would become a distant memory and then and only then can the public say, without hesitation that the Nationalist government days, were truly the ‘golden years’ which, alas they had let slip away.
Lou, get back to the history books, the real ones, not the ones you find at the Mile End.
Angus, Lou Carabott is an acquaintance of mine and in my age cohort so, around 60, give or take a couple of years.
I am not going to bother hiding behind some nom de plume like some people over here – we’re in 2011 nowadays.
Lou Carabott is my father – I’m sure he’ll be very happy to be considered young at his 63 years of age. Just because he expressed an opinion on what he feels, please do not jump to conclusions about his inclinations, views or indeed his age.
Anyone who knows my father would know he is a moderate – far from the totalitarian that he has been made out above – just because he has expressed an opinion that disagrees with yours – it doesn’t make him out to be an ogre.
I myself a staunch Nationalist and proud of it – and I am also proud of the fact that I can have open discussions with him on what is good as well as what is bad about both my party as well as his own, certainly not the behaviour of a totalitarian.
Back in my first election, when I told him that I am voting PN, far from being totalitarian and spouting absolute drivel like some people in this blog, he told me to vote according to my conscience.
Finally, Angus Black, my father always taught me that two wrongs never make a right. Any further comment is superfluous.
