Jeffrey's Far Right Labour roots are showing (and no, I don't mean his hair because he stopped dyeing that last year)

Because he's no longer worth it

Some kinds of people, instead of displaying grace under pressure, instead show their true colours. The mask and the posturing slip away, and you’re left with the raw basics of hdura, shoulder-chips and lanzit.

Look at Jeffrey’s hysterical multiple reactions to a one-liner from somebody whose surname got his back up. This exchange took place on Cyrus Engerer’s Facebook wall, where Jeffrey has been posting offensive remarks about me, as he has on Robert Musumeci’s.

Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando
Just posting what she said about you Gabriel. I’m assuming you’re Maltese with a surname like Cassar Torregiani.

Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando
Or perhaps you’re one of those who believes himself to be above the rest because you speak in what would probably be considered to be pidgin English in an English speaking country.

If so – I sympathise with YOU

If this were really about a sense of cultural inferiority based around postcolonial insecurities, and a 21st century rehash of “the language question”… I think my head might explode.

What is so threatening about fluency in English? And why don’t some people get the hang of it? It’s not that difficult. Lots of Europeans sound halfway decent, even with accents.

Still, while all that might just be the tip of the iceberg, it’s the only bit that genuinely interests me. Pullicino Orlando’s public meltdown just isn’t funny anymore.

[Daphne – I agree with you that it isn’t funny. He seems to be in the full throes of a very public nervous breakdown, and nobody in his family appears to be doing anything about it.]

    • Yeled Shovav says:

There’s a goodnight sign off thing on his Facebook wall, complete with a peace sign, Ghandi quote and the most dead-eyed smile imaginable.

Can’t help but feel sorry for him, really.

  2. Jean Paul says:

He sounds quite desperate – not one, not two, but three replies.

By the way, did you see Jose Herrera’s reply when asked about the debacle regarding the discussion of the euro zone rescue funds in parliament?

“To be honest, I wasn’t really bothered, so I just left”.

    [Daphne – ma, x’imbarazz.]

    • Chav Nation says:

Four replies, actually, the last one of which shows that he is neurotic enough to have checked out Gabriel’s Facebook and found an old picture of him in running-shorts.

Well, Jeffrey, it’s certainly a lot classier than some of the things you’ve been getting up to lately, like drinking too much (oh sorry they spiked your drink – I forgot that) and being hauled out of the David Guetta VIP area by security men after getting into a fight. Tsk tsk.

    • @ Jean Paul

I do not want to nit pick but Dr Herrera actually said ”kont ghajjien u tlaqt”.

What a reply from our future Minister for Justice. He was tired, so notwithstanding the gravity and importance of the vote in question he just ups and leaves.

This is also the individual who does not mind when members of the judiciary debase themselves in front of him to ‘lobby’ for higher salaries, this while he defends cases before them. God knows we have enough committees, boards, commissions and many other organs to ensure that ethics, behaviour and general action is as should be.

As a nation we are really scraping the bottom of the barrel.

What you said is a statement of fact, Daphne. The reality is that yes, a majority of the Maltese are by their very nature, loud and brash.

And Jeffrey, the English-speakers, or pidgin English speakers, as you put it, are not necessarily better. Having said that, I happen to know Gabriel, and he is most certainly neither loud, nor brash.

I think we might be seeing a little bit of the old ‘chip on the shoulder’ syndrome, especially given the, not one, but three comments.

  4. John Anon says:

Far right Jeff eh. Poor sod. Maybe he doesn’t know it but his residence is right in a valley officially known as “Wied is-Sewda”.

      An epitaph?
Hope he is not superstitious or we will be treated to a profile picture on facebook with him touching his b***s.

  6. Francis Attard says:

How is it that this “Far Right” politician is still representing you in parliament Ms Caruana Galizia?

[Daphne – Because I have to wait until the next general election to choose a different representative. What you should be asking is ‘why is an MP attacking his own constituents?’]

  7. Kenneth Cassar says:

Jeffrey needs a refresher course in the English language.

Let’s see what Daphne actually said (as opposed to what Jeffrey understood).

“That Maltese social culture tends towards the abrupt, brusque, ill-mannered, loud and rude is beyond dispute.”

    1. “The Maltese social culture…” – as all literate people should know, culture is a collective term that describes a general trend. When referring to a national social culture, one is not saying that all citizens of that nation subscribe to that culture. In fact, it would be impressive if everyone did. That doesn’t even happen in totalitarian states, let alone modern democracies.

    2. “…tends towards…” – If point 1 were not sufficient, this should ring alarm bells for anyone who might stupidly think that Daphne was calling all Maltese people abrupt, brusque, ill-mannered, loud and rude. The relevant definition of “tends” is “to be disposed toward (something)”. And to be disposed towards something implies a tendency (which is the term Daphne actually used), and not necessarily a hard fact.

    • La Redoute says:

If point 1 were not sufficient, one only need to turn to the replies that Jeffrey’s multiple posts have generated. They are a perfect illustration of the social culture they so eagerly seek to defend.

  8. Silverbug says:

This is really rich from someone who felt he had to embellish plain Pullicino with an Orlando to sound…what? More posh?

  9. jae says:

JPO is a Member of Parliament. By posting such comments on Facebook, he is not only ridiculing himself but also ridiculing Parliament.

  10. Gabriel Cassar-Torregiani says:

Must have missed all the fun. Posts seem to have been removed from Cyrus Engerer’s Facebook wall.

  11. Gabriel Cassar-Torregiani says:

Jeffrey, so what topless photo are you referring to? There are none of me and weren’t any for that matter. If you are referring to the photo of a 14-year-old kid with a grafitti backdrop , then you are really beyond repair.

A parliamentarian commenting on an underage kid.
