Careful, Cyrus – you’re beginning to sound like a cyborg

Progressive elegance, with a touch of liberalism and moderate modernity

Here’s Cyrus, on his Facebook wall, talking about Joseph Muscat’s ’51 proposti’ speech in parliament.

Diskors li jimla ż-żgħażagħ bil-kuraġġ. Iva, hemm futur għall-Maltin u l-Għawdxin grazzi għal tmexxija progressiva f’moviment li qegħdin jingħaqdu miegħu nisa, rġiel, żgħażagħ u anzjani bi principji progressivi, moderati u liberali, li jridu jaraw lill-Malta moderna, Ewropea fejn kull individwu jiġi trattat bl-istess mod u jingħata d-dritijiet kollha li jixraqlu u dak kollu li jimmeritah.

What does the Labour Party do to its politicians to make them talk like this – press rewind and play?

And you’ll never guess where he is right now, unless you check his wall.

Cyrus Engerer
at the Progressive Convention of the Party of European Socialists in Brussels

Honestly.

Here’s his latest status update:

The difference between conservative and progressive politics is being elegantly outlined at the Progressive Convention at the Party of European Socialists.

Elegantly. You don’t say. If the Party of European Socialists wants to be thought elegant, it had better leave the Malta contingent out of the loop. I can’t see Anglu, Toni and Joseph doing much elegant outlining. Or Marlene. Or Silvio Parnis. But Joe Debono Grech is really elegant, I must say.

This is what I call the “progressive elegance” of the Party of European Socialists:

And, Cyrus, this is particularly “progressive” and “elegant”:

“A far-right group has called for a “week of intolerance of gays” and together with other groups threatened violence. Even Socialist Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev said he did not like “the manifestation and demonstration of such orientations.”
