Kullhadd intelligenti hlief in-nies tieghu, from what I gather

Published: November 8, 2011 at 8:37pm

Muscat’s new buzz-phrase when interacting with a person in front of an audience:

“Lou, int intelligenti…” (on Bondi+)

“Il-prim ministru huwa intelligenti…” (just now in parliament)

Mid-dehra, in-nies intelligenti kollha fuq in-nahra l-ohra qeghdin.

Maaa, how patronising. As I know through experience, there are few things more aggravating than being told you’re intelligent by somebody who isn’t, but who obviously thinks he’s far smarter than you are and believes he’s talking down to you.

Men with a very average IQ are particularly keen on this kind of ‘praise’.

    Interesting:

The Times´ live reporting at 7.05pm:

¨ 6.58 pm – Dr Farrugia says Transport Malta is paying 500 euros per coach for 20 coaches a day being rented out by Arrivato pick up people from places and take them to Valletta. How much will this service cost a year? This is what the people want to know.¨

The Times´ live reporting OF THE SAME MINUTE at 8.40pm:

¨6.58 pm – Dr Farrugia says Transport Malta is renting up to 20 coaches per day at €500 each to pick up people from bus stops because of the inefficient bus service. This will cost the country several million euro per year¨

Surely someone in the Times did not allow himself to change the MP´s words around because the first time round he sounded silly??

That’s more than a tad interesting.

Could there be a little elf planted at the TOM tasked with cleaning up the live transcripts of Joey & Co?

It’s clearly not a case of the old stenographer having missed or misheard a word here and there.

In this case, the editorial staff have added context that did not previously exist, and turned what was apparently a rhetorical question into a statement. Hmmmm.
