These are the consequences of YOUR actions, Franco, and nobody else’s
Coincidentally, I was about to write that the combination of self-obsession, distorted perspective and lack of media training in an interviewee is a television interviewer’s dream.
Reno Bugeja made mince-meat of Franco Debono, and as somebody who has a certain amount of experience interviewing politicians, I could see that the phrasing of his question as to whether Eddie Fenech Adami tried to reason with Debono was designed to lead him into an alley and slam him against a brick wall.
A savvy politician with all the lights switched on would have given the stock response that he does not divulge the nature of private meetings, who he met and what was said, because he considers any such breach of confidence to be beyond the pale. Next question, please.
Instead, Franco Debono’s inability to control his facial expression gave the game away. Completely unguarded as he listened to the question, his face said ‘How did you know about that?’ and then he launched into an entirely unnecessary spiel of praise for Fenech Adami.
“We know all that,” Bugeja said. “It goes without saying. That is not what I asked you. Did Fenech Adami speak to you?”
And Debono repeated his praise of Fenech Adami. Bugeja had got the answer he wanted, and so did his audience, and Debono actually thought that because he didn’t say ‘Yes’ then he was home and dry.
Look at him go, on timesofmalta.com now:
In his reaction, Dr Debono noted that in last night’s Dissett he was asked by presenter Reno Bugeja whether he had been approached by Eddie Fenech Adami regarding his abstention. Dr Debono said he did not reveal that meeting, and wouldn’t have, had it not been mentioned by Dr Fenech Adami himself.
Get a grip on yourself, Franco – and if you want to bury yourself harder and faster, pick a fight with Eddie Fenech Adami, why don’t you.

From where can I buy tickets for Fenech Adami vs Debono?
ref your final words of advice to Franco Debono here Daphne – the words ‘head’, ‘nail’ and ‘hammer’ spring to mind.
Is it absolute exclusion he’s looking for? He’s certainly in the fast lane towards said destination if that’s the case, if not already there.
Franco Debono needs to get a pussycat. It has been proven that it works.
P.S. Why is Dissett not on Di-ve anymore?
You can watch it on http://www.dissett.tv
Thanks.
Thanks, I missed it yesterday.
Was Franco Debono’s self-immolation on Dissett last night another symptom of the “Arani Ma” syndrome or has he just completely lost it ? And now wanting to pick a fight with Fenech Adami – the man needs help fast .
I have again watched Franco Debono onDissett: the body language, jumping up and down on his chair, his hard-done-by attitude, the furtive looks sideways, going off at tangents, not answering Reno Bugeja’s questions, the spelling out that his next target is the Justice Ministry and Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici, his version of his exchange with Eddie Fenech Adami, the reduction of democracy to bus routes and timetables, not having a clue what being elected on a party ticket means….
He has now been abandoned by the PL hopefuls gagging for an early election.
Does this man have a mentor or, more important, did he ever have one?
He is on a self-centred ego trip and the the fact that he has blown his chances of getting elected again does not seem to concern him. What’s on his agenda is causing as much trouble and problems as possible to the party in government to which he supposedly belongs.
On Friday, Franco Debono said that he is not much interested in the parliamentary seat. Since Joe Cuschieri is all the time begging for a parliamentary seat, why does he not give it to him?
And who will change sides?
Franco or Joseph?
Oh got it, Franco is already on the other side….
Just watched Dissett on the link provided.
Dr Debono’s body language said it all. He lost it and what was worse, he knew it too.
How dare this WHIPPERSNAPPER b’halib ommu fi snienu repeat over and over again that democracy is currently at risk in Malta.
[Daphne – For the last bleeding time. Men that age – Joseph, Franco, etc – are not whippersnappers. Whippersnapper is a word you would use to describe somebody a generation younger. They are a mere five or six years younger than David Cameron. They are old enough to have children in the late teens. They are grown men, and middle-aged ones, what’s more.]
Did Fenech Adami lie (again)?
[Daphne – He didn’t even lie once, let alone again. Lie about what, Martin? My, it must be really boring with the braindead on maltatoday’s comments-board if you’ve ended up coming here for a bit of -ooops (keeping with the current themes of the day) – stimulation.]
Has anyone given Franco directions to Joseph’s skip yet?
Short cuts, and no bus routes, please.
