Labour beats a retreat

It’s fascinating to see how Labour is beating a retreat already on the subject of Sargas, when it so confidently presented ‘il-pjan ta’ John Dalli’ to the nation as the solution for all our electricity bill ills.
It has done so under the fierce onslaught of criticism from all quarters except a certain EU Commissioner.
I foresee that we shall not be seeing John Dalli much on Super One again, if at all, and this will be Labour’s choice not his.

Joseph’s tendency to bluff has become the prime factor for their errors.
What we face is someone who chose to take up Dalli’s plan, during a televised interview, following the budget’s presentation, to come up with an answer.
A week later it was Anglu Farrugia who repeated Joseph’s words, painfully aware he was blindly following someone who shouldn’t be his leader in the first place.
Maltastar and Maltatoday, meantime, kick off a Sargas sponsored campaign simultaneously.
A week ago Karmenu Vella was still at it, justifying Dalli’s proposal, at one point even correcting himself, faced with Tonio Fenech.
This week, Marlene comes along and spells out the new regime, again on TV, practically coinciding with Sargas’s statement protesting at the way their proposal has been embroiled in political bickering.
Interesting, someone’s decided to close the ranks, that requires clout.
And Saviour Balzan today, of course. Beating up Briguglio and stamping his feet.
Isn’t it interesting that Joseph Muscat has bragged all along that he’s got some secret magic formula for making utilities cheap without raising taxes or spreading costs?
The only solution so far was il-pjan ta’ John Dalli but Muscat had been on about this a long time before he called Dalli ‘after having seen him on Inkontri’.
I think it was Professor Robert Ghirlando who delivered the coup de grâce to Sargas.
Among many arguments against the coal-fired power plant, he pointed out that the distribution costs of electricity were not taken into account.
Kollox “car kristall” in retrospect.
How’s that for vision.
‘FOR YOUR EYES ONLY’ my dear Joseph.
