Now here’s a real blast from the past: Edward Scicluna, reporting on the 1987 general elections for Xandir Malta.

Aah, so that’s what Scicluna was doing in the Eighties. Good thing he “always sided with the underdog.”
No underdogs in the that election for sure, especially with all the impartiality from Xandir Malta.
It’s no wonder Scicluna supports Joseph Muscat, a Labour-journalist-hack turned politician: He is one himself.
Actually he conducted the exit polls.I distinctly recall him stating that there were indications of a ‘surprise’ result.
To anyone who understood that statement, this meant that it was a statistical certainty that Labour had won the elections.
Does anyone seriously expect. Prof. Scicluna to be happy saying respectfully “yes sir, no sir, aye aye sir ” to neophyte Muscat now and in the future?
That’s amazing. He looks better now than he did back then.
Actually , he looks better and much more at ease than his boss Joey who is forever nervously fingering his cufflinks , crotch, tie and jacket pockets just before a photoshoot.
He looked like a nerd.
And he still does.
Just got back to La La Land. Read Scicluna’s interview in the Times on the flight back. Spent the time shaking my head. Ths guy needs to go back to ‘Samuelson’, Economics 100.
Can’t believe the BS he spewed. Guess he’s happy with the company he keeps. Credibility down the tubes.
And, after 1987, Edward Scicluna was Chariman of the MCESD, Chairman of the MFSA, Electoral Commissioner, Director of the Central Bank, member of the Euro Changeover Committee. Now one moment pls, let me just check which government appointed him in these posts………….ah yes, of course, silly me to forget, it was a PN government.
[Daphne – More fool they, to appoint somebody to key positions when he disagreed with the very policies he was there to implement. Perhaps he concealed the fact that he opposed the government’s policies?]
In other words, this professor is a lot more experienced then his young boss-presumptive and can easily make him redundant. Bet Joey will soon start ruing the day he accepted Scicluna as a PL candidate.
“a lot more experienced then his young….” THEN, THAN, THEN, THAN, THEN
Dee instead of wasting time on this blog I suggest you go and take some primary school English lessons.
Why? Do you happen to give English language private lessons when you are not “wasting time on this blog”?
I do. At 5 Euros an hour.
Baxxter, Daphne pays you 5 Euros an hour to ‘waste time’ on her blog? Jeez.
No, I give private lessons in English, including elocution, public speaking, effective writing, spelling and general culture. I only charge 5 Euros since most of the work is done by the students.
Edward Scicluna is 65 so by the end of the Muscat government he will be 71. At his age he should be writing his memoirs but instead he portrays himself as the new kid on the block.
That’s it! Elsewhere on this blog I wrote I recall his interpretation of the exit polls. Indeed, it was way back in 1987. Oh God how time flies – I was 10 at the time but I remember bloody well the red bar graphs.
What horrible years. What horrible memories. It is horrible to see that these people may very well be ruling us next year (2013).
