The blog of Glenn Bedingfield

Glenn Bedingfield (right) celebrates the making of Labour's team with a man in a stripey jumper.

A little more than a year before the general election, Glenn Bedingfield, former MEP, former One News reporter, former Maltastar editor, and current wine drinker, tells us how thrilled he is that Labour’s team is in the making.

Ghax issa Glenn ghandu blog, you know.

I thought Joseph said he has spent the last three and a half years working on this project, Glenn. Left it a bit late, haven’t you.

Labour’s team in the making

The latest announcement that MEP Edward Scicluna will be a candidate for the next general election is a big plus for Labour and indeed the country. Since 2009 he has proven himself at the European Parliament. He will join a great team, having one aim, a better future for all.

The Labour candidates list is growing. People like former divorce campaigner Deborah Schembri, Paediatrician Chris Fearne, economist Conrad Mizzi, Physiotherapist Martin Ellul and Ophthalmologist Franco Mercieca, just to mention a few, have already announced their candidature. The team is in the making.

There are others willing to join and in the near future more names will be added to the list. Labour needs different people from all walks of life and different backgrounds to appeal to the largest number of people possible.

In contrast, there are PN exponents who are declaring their intention not to contest again. So far Minister Austin Gatt, and backbenchers Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando and Jesmond Mugliett have made their intentions clear that they do not want to contest again.

So on one hand we have more people joining Labour while on the other hand we expect more decisions of PN exponents abandoning the ship as the hunt for candidates is on.

Oh, I see he did not put a couple of interrogation marks after every sentence, as was the practice with Maltastar leaders while he was the editor over there.

I wonder, can ” a better future with the LP in government” be classified as an oxymoron” ?

    Interesting comment by Glenn Bedingfield.

PL have a paediatrician, an economist, a physiotherapist and an ophtalmologist, all men, and then they have a divorce campaigner, the only woman. I thought Deborah Scembri is a lawyer.

Is this the taste of things to come where women are concerned? Are women, under PL, going to be categorised by their actions as opposed to their professions?

    So much for gender equality.
