Under GonZipN all we have is scabies and qamel and bicca pizza
This comment was posted beneath the story ‘Malta has not idea what its people eat’ on timesofmalta.com. Victor Vella is a Laburist ahdar who literally squats on the timesofmalta.com comments-board, and who has become as permanent a fixture there as Eddy Privitera was on the ‘Letters to the Editor’ page in the print version, in years gone by (and creepily, he’s still around).
The thing is that people like this become caricatures of themselves and so easy to mock and parody. I rather suspect that somebody has done it to the ‘real’ Victor Vella – see below.

What do you expect the Maltese to eat under this PN regime. Ghagin, hobz biz-zejt jew xi pizza fejn ghal-prezz ta` tnejn you take three. Tar-Regime u dawk IL-mercenaries ta` madwarhom jiftahru that every Saturday and Sunday the restaurants are filled with people. Of course they go to eat outside. Ghaliex fi zmien il-Lejber il-mara setghet toqghod id-dar taking care of the family because there were large milking cows jahilbu and today we have only scabies, qamel u MRSA in our state of the art hospital. And by the way. Do you know what people eat when they go out. Pizza, Pizza and more Pizza because they cannot afford to eat more than pizza. Sorry for making use of English and Maltese because during the Lejber times I used to speak in English and they used to tell me how awkward I am when I used to go and eat a big meal and now I only talk of Maltese when I go out to eat to say Please Pizza, Timpana. Platt ghagin, hobz tal-Malti ha nintela`. At least I thank this regime because now I`m talking and writing in Maltese.

This sounds trollish. I’ll tell you one thing for sure though, it’s definitely not the colonel.
[Daphne – No, it isn’t. He died in 1963.]
I do not think that this is the right time to eat outside, especially at night.
I don’t get it.
Why am I not at all surprised that Victor Vella votes Labour?
Kif Alla jridu.

Il-mara kienet toqghod id-dar f’dak iz-zmien l’inti qieghed isemmi, minhabba l-fatt li lanqas kien hemm xoghol siewi ghal ragel ta’ familja. Ahseb w ara kemm seta’ kien hemm xoghol ghall mara Maltija…hlief fil-famuz Korp tal-Pijunieri, Izra w Rabbi, Bahhar u Sewwi, etc…
Women stayed at home and the husbands worked three jobs. The full time job and another two partime jobs as I know plenty of cases myself.

“At least I thank this regime because now I`m talking and writing in Maltese” (Victor Vella).
The comment is certainly written in an odd mixture of Maltese AND ENGLISH.
But yet, he and many more like him have a vote and idiots like him can make the difference in the next election.
We used to eat at home during the Labour regime of the 70s and 80s because my wife didn’t work (because there were no jobs). Once for dinner she served cat food, and when I asked why, she told me that it was canned sardines in tomato sauce.
Under a Labour government, there will not be MRSA, no lice, no scabies; we will all be eating goose, pheasant, duck, lamb turkey, salmon or roast beef every day. All medicine will be free for all, even non-prescription drugs. Free public transport. Free flights on Air Malta. It will be heaven on earth.
A job vacated by a man could not be taken by a woman in the 1970s and 1980s. .And with bulk buying we used to eat worse then pizzas.
Joseph is fond of bulk buying.
“goose, pheasant, duck, lamb, turkey, salmon or roast beef”? I`ve had it, I don`t like any of them. And I don`t like pizza either. Maybe Victor Vella, who can write both English AND Maltese, can do some research and find some other options for me? Platt ghagin?
Victor Vella does not seem to be so progressive.
Some people have a great difficulty in percieving themselves through the eyes of others and think that the world revolves around them and their pro-Labour rants.
Victor Vella and Eddy Privitera are two of this kind.
