Where are Astrid Vella and her beloved megaphone?
There are two important points about the Labour Party’s insistence on the Sargas power station which haven’t been raised yet.
1. Why are Flimkien Ghal Ambjent Ahjar totally silent? Maybe it’s because they define ‘the environment’ as a ‘baroque house’ near Stella Maris parish church, Sliema, built in the late 1800s. Maybe it’s because the president of the Nationalist Party and some freshwater crabs are not involved. Or maybe it’s because Astrid is tied up working out a new shade of fire-engine red for her hair, or getting some testosterone shots to stop her voice squeaking so irritatingly.
2. How much money is Dom Mintoff going to claim in compensation for pain and suffering and the loss of pleasure at L-Gharix, given that he’s already got Lm500,000 (liri, not euros) out of the taxpayer as compensation for all that hideous pain caused by the current power station? Or is it now considered safe to proceed because he has dementia?

Daphne, I love that futuristic concept with the backdrop of the beautiful cliffs of Delimara.
Is that Malta’s version of the Empire Station, or is it the new Sargas Dallimara 7 Star Floating Hotel?
Or an iteration of Piano’s Pompadour, thinking Astrid would be placated.
This is the closest thing I could find. It is in Sweden, but it is not made by Sargas.

Not that I know much about such projects, but I was very surprised that FAA did not give it the thumbs-down right away. In my inexperienced eyes, that project looks just like a catastrophic ecological and aesthetic disaster in the making.
Dom Mintoff has already been compensated for…when compensating him for that power station they took into consideration that such power host is such to be detrimental to his villa and would leave the villa with no value at all, therefore as if the villa was taken from him by the state. Therefore no more compensation could be given to him since he took all the compensation he could have as if it was taken from him….at least that’s what the judgment says.
If you call that a villa then I live in a palace.
Now that Labour has distanced itself from the Sargas proposal, and they actually want us to believe that they never even considered it, they are left with the problem of telling us how they plan to reduce electricity rates.
Perhaps Marlene Farrugia can find the answer on the internet.
Here’s another question: if this technology is so brilliant, so cheap and so eco-friendly, then why isn’t everyone else using it?
Because Joseph will boldly go where no man has gone before.
So ironic, there she was, inviting Joseph to St.John’s, only to be served this charcoal grilled potato.
Maybe she deems coal a baroque source of energy.
Her megaphone batteries are flat.
Now unless I’m mistaken Ms Vella did raise this matter in Malta Today. She said that the Sargas presentation was very interesting, indicating that the technology might have significant potential, but before thorough studies are carried out to assess its suitability and implications for Malta, FAA are not in a position to comment. Did you miss that one?
[Daphne – Oh, so they need ‘thorough studies’ for this, when for everything else they sounded off on the basis of prejudice?]
Well I hardly think FAA will be carrying out the studies Daphne. After all they are a small NGO without the Government funding and paid positions provided to others!
[Daphne – They didn’t bother with studies when speaking about other projects, James Tyrrell. I find it strange that Astrid has found a new fastidiousness. She has more than enough to latch onto, what with everything that’s being said – even by ‘experts’.]
Does that mean the FAA lobbies against a fee?
