Another star comment from a Mintoffian – in reaction to the Joey iz-Zejza post

Jiena mara ta' veru u nivvota Labour (kif qalli r-ragel)

Why are they so obsessed with strange sex and pornographic scenarios involving animals and/or violence? Is this really how supporters of the liberal and progressive Labour movement think of women?

I can answer my own question: yes. The main problem that atavistic Labour supporters have with me is that I’m a woman. If I were a man, they wouldn’t be so very angry about me.

I don’t only criticise their politics and their Beautiful Party. I confound their cast-in-stone, rock-of-ages expectation of what a real woman should be like.

The lives of their women must be a strange sort of hell, in more ways than one. I realise now why so many Labour women of the younger generation starve themselves silly, totter about in F**k Me shoes (I thought it was because they’re mainly midgets), spend half their lives at the hairdresser getting their hair stretched, or at the nail technician getting nail art, and have a wide assortment of tangas which, thankfully, are no longer so much on display.

That is how their men want them to be.

They would be better off spending all that time and money developing their personality and their mind. But that is not how their men want them to be.

Rise up, Labour women, for you are the great oppressed.

    Classy.

By the way, Franco is being rather quiet lately. Did I miss something?

[Daphne – He’s giving Jeffrey his turn in the Labour/The Times lajmlajt.]

My goodness these comments I have been reading are just disgusting. I shudder to think that I share a country with them – or worse, that these people can vote and will vote.

This person – whoever he is – can’t even spell in Maltese let alone probably string a coherent sentence in English. The level of ignorance that some people of the population choose to live is frightening.

If I had any doubts as to who to vote for, these comments would make my mind up in a heartbeat.

I’m not about to vote for a government who will favour low-lifes like the one who just wrote the comment above.

The fact that so many comments on previous posts have all been about physically abusing you (Daphne) is just disgusting and honestly makes me worry for the future of this country. Say what you want about a Nationalist government, but they never condoned or encouraged violence and abuse.

Women who do not act, look and dress like whores are ugly and worthless (according to these bloody idiots).

  7. Farrugia says:

Incisive observations on Maltese men and women. However, such observations are just as valid for the less developed regions of the UK and Italy. In other words this is an issue of stunted social development.

Let’s hope people learn from your comments. After all, most children spend more time with ther mothers and if many women are as you described them to be, then we have a problem in this country.

[Daphne – Yes, indeed. You’re right about the mothers bit the main source of the problem.]

  8. Izzie says:

This is a typical case of “linguistic impoverishment”, the use of a restricted code resulting from an impaired educational process often associated with social class and upbringing.

As I pointed out elsewhere, this verbal abuse witnessed in this blog says a lot about the persons who write.

There is no doubt that they have been subjected to this environment of limited speech (hence linguistic development in general) since birth. It’s dismal and bleak on their front.

I can just imagine who they mix with, how they entertain themselves, what they talk about and what their aspirations are.

In a “socialist” publication called “Ulied in-Nanna Venut fl-Amerka”, by Juann Mamo, way back in the 20s or 30s, (and which the MLP published and revered as if it were the Bible) he compared the Maltese women of the time talking about the lotto and other trivial things whilst their Maltese counterparts in the US were fighting for other causes such as the right to vote, the right to hold office and the like.

Now that was almost a hundred years ago. What would Mamo say about these types of no-brain ċrieċer and ħamalli today, when they suppose they have evolved and come out of the mire? Oh Lord, how their language betrays them.

    • Jozef says:

I couldn’t agree more. What’s even worse is that the criecer are now into consumption as their raison.

When one considers the limited vocabulary, where quantity is the only parameter, politics become a vitiated process.

These last four years have been particularly marked by an utter vacuum on the opposition side, putting to the fore this level of reasoning as some sort of national pulse.

The backbenchers were led to believe Labour would have contributed, when in fact it was the same mentality which got to them. Maybe because it suited them.

Why else would Labour choose to shirk responsibility for a centred left and fail policymaking? Whenever Joseph speaks, his ‘proposals’ are either a call for US Republican style deregulation or a call to socialist subsistence. The movement is proving too fragmented amongst extremes to coalesce. His government will result in a slowdown in policy implementation and legislation due continuous controversy with stakeholders.

The lack of a European culture will result impossible to ignore.

It will be spectacular to watch.

  14. Min Weber says:

Actually, I find this comment hilarious.

This could be the Maltese equivalent of Baldrick.

This subliterate language should be studied and used for an Ulied in-Nanna Venut sequel.

How on earth did this woman think of goats? Indeed it’s a pornographic scene involving animals. I can’t stop laughing. I mean, you have to be a genius to come up with such an idea – and instead these people offer us raw material.

Had Fellini known about Malta and this riff-raff, he would have set his movies here.

This comment is surreal. Really surreal.

Someone should write Ulied in-Nanna Venut fl-Internet. Baxxter, are you up to it?

  15. Lorna saliba says:

who wrote this comment Joe iz-zejza’s wife?

Very up-market…I must admit and inspiring to all those who are contemplating voting labour next election. Joe iz-zejza would be the guy you’d purr up to when you need a favour or a permess had labour to be in government.

He would be the guy you’d need to know to get you through the goverment departments and avoid endless queues and fabricated bureacracy and who would bring you close to the minister when you needed a favour.

  16. old-timer says:

Joseph does not need “policies” he has the vote of those people who can come up with such comments.

  17. zaghzugh says:

NOOOOOO!!! PL people don’t hate you cause you’re a woman but because you are rude and you don’t think about the repercussions that what you are writing may cause. the fact that what you write is always biased towards PN may also aid this problem.
so to experiment a bit don’t be biased and don’t be rude and you’ll see that NO ONE will hate you. MARK MY WORDS

[Daphne – zaghzugh, when you have spent as much time living here in Malta as I have, you will understand that this is typical of a situation in which almost half a million people have to rub along and survive on the same tiny rock. Part of this rubbing along and surviving means never upsetting anyone else because, in the Maltese expression literally translated into English, you never know who you might need. When somebody comes along and says ‘Screw that. I’m not living like this,’ it upsets them. It upsets them precisely because it points up their own shortcomings and their own lack of spine and conviction. In other words, it is not so much what I say and do, but the fact that they don’t do it themselves because they don’t feel they have that freedom. Most Maltese people are prisoners, zaghzugh: prisoners of other people’s expectations, prisoners of their own self-imposed social restrictions, and prisoners of their limited imagination and truncated education. Maltese society is very strange in that people are strongly individualistic in their thinking, very selfish and uncivic-minded, but then at the same time herd animals who seek the approval, constantly, of the rest of the herd. Because if you are forced out of the herd on a tiny rock, there’s nowhere to go but into the sea.]

  18. Mifsud says:

Why isn’t ‘Joe iz-zejza’ in capital letters too? Makes me wonder…

  19. mattie says:

“Maltese society is very strange in that people are strongly individualistic in their thinking, very selfish and uncivic-minded, but then at the same time herd animals who seek the approval, constantly, of the rest of the herd. Because if you are forced out of the herd on a tiny rock, there’s nowhere to go but into the sea.”

    Brilliant, Daphne.

  20. Angie says:

And the sad thing is that this kind of animal has a right to vote.

  21. Silvio Farrugia says:

Sometimes I am ashamed at how my compatriots have no sense of humour or idea of irony. I am ashamed at how ignorant some of them are and because they do not understand English properly they take offence easily.

I really laughed at how they took your ‘concentration camps’ article. Nobody ever points out to these people how rediculous they look? No wonder most of them do not laugh at British comedies and say that the British laugh at nothing (heard it often).

  22. Charmaine Martin says:

What a shame!!! He`ll better go and get himself some education. Do we still have such ignorant people in 2012…tal-BIZA!!!
