Franco – a Nelson Mandela for our times

My, what poor, poor minds some Labour supporters have.

Just look at this picture that came off Affari Taghna’s Facebook – this being John Bundy’s Super One show.

Nelson Mandela, for pity’s sake.

We know that Franco Debono suffered a lot and that he was a victim.

But though he didn’t give us the specifics (growing up in a house in Hal Ghaxaq? it’s a pretty village, come on, it can’t have been that bad), I am quite sure that the extent of his sufferings and victimhood do not compare to 27 years as a political prisoner, 18 of them on Robben Island.

And Nelson Mandela didn’t pick his fight because the boss failed to give his intelligence its due, or because he wasn’t made a minister when Gordon Pisani got lower marks in Form II and yet still sits in on cabinet meetings.

As for Manwel Dimech, I don’t feel like getting involved in intense debates on Maltese political history. Suffice it to say that Franco Debono, had he lived then, would not have been Manwel Dimech but his lawyer in the murder trial.

At this point, I suggest that we go one step ahead of Affari Taghna and we nominate Franco Debono for the 2012 Nobel Peace Prize.

I bet his fighting cock suffered more than Franco Debono.

I watched Mandela walk free from Robben island almost 25 years ago, tears streaming down my cheeks. This little shit has no clue what suffering means.

Do they actually know that Nelson Mandela fought against apartheid?

These are the people who want no ‘suwed’ in Malta in case they ruin our amazing culture and ‘take over’.

Debono near Mandela? Quite like my kajjiek next to the USS Nimitz…
