Franco wants to emigrate. Please, somebody tell him that we’re in the European Union and he has freedom of movement

On right, the man who will - now sooner than first thought - be our prime minister

From a report in The Times today:

Asked if he had committed political suicide, Dr Debono said he did not see it that way.

Asked if he was prepared to remain an independent MP if the party executive decided to accept his resignation, Dr Debono said he would remain in Parliament.

Dr Debono stressed he would not contest the next election with the Labour Party or independently and will either focus on his legal office or emigrate if things came to a head.

He also dismissed people who questioned his state of mental health, and said he did not regret showing his report card to PBS news. “Dr Gonzi said I was being childish. I wanted to show that even as a child I took things seriously and I was a brilliant student.”

    A prize twat.

What bloody cheek! He ruins the prospects of an entire island state and then buzzes off to what he thinks are greener pastures. Damn you, Franco.

  2. Vincent says:

Seems like Debono’s excitement during his puberty years was derived from obtaining full marks in religious studies. I can’t help but feel sorry for the man.

I think that this reasoning although typical is completely wrong. From my experience the grades one gets at school do not reflect how good you are, how serious you are or how well you will do in your career. On the contrary from my experience it is quite the opposite.

What a report shows is how you fared in that particular exam and unfortunately most exams do not assess anything but academic knowlege.

    • Alfred Cassar says:

He didn’t even show an end of year result but only a half-yearly exams which were not exams at all but merely tests. There are thousands of Maltese students with similar or better half-yearly results. Vavu.

When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. – 1 Corinthians 13:11

Apparently it does not apply to everybody.

  5. thinker says:

Brilliant student, with 73% in mathematics?

Franco, you were a smart student, not a brilliant one.

100 in religion just makes you a priest in the making, nothing else.

  6. amen says:

Please Franco, and I say this honestly and without any sarcasm – seek medical advice.

Yes….and a friend who is a top psychiatrist has already given his diagnosis. A severe case of NPD. Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

  7. John Schembri says:

My guess is that he’s against the European Union.

  8. ciccio says:

We’re also in Shengils, according to Joe Debono Grech.

  9. La Redoute says:

Debono’s got very low standards, hasn’t he? Brilliant students do a lot better than he did. Well, if his benchmark was Joseph Muscat, that explains the low standard of ‘brilliance’.

  10. Kenneth Ellul says:

Franco Debono says he resigned from PN 4 months ago. Yet last November he gave this speech during PN’s Kunsill Generali. I would imagine that, had he really resigned he wouldn’t go anywhere near the PN headquarters let alone talk during the Kunsill Generali! NUTS!

I cannot comprehend my countrymen. When there were real resignation issues for prime ministers (in the past and also recently) their resignation was not demanded. Now for such stupid issues the well-being of many workers in this time of turmoil is being jeopardized because of personal ambitions and blackmail by an ego-inflated MP.

What I cannot understand is HOW and why should he find support. What kind of a country are we? Really is there anywhere like here? I am lost.

Franco has been summoned by Archbishop Cremona, who heard reports of his 100 mark in religion. A word of warning to the archbishop. Take care, as he is already planning to replace you.

  13. oldtimer says:

Archbishop? That won’t be enough for him. Pope Benedict should be concerned.
