I’m still wondering why he didn’t push towards becoming a magistrate. Three people from our law course have been appointed as magistrates, whereas he wasn’t. (Yes, I read law and graduated with Franco, albeit I never had any affinity with him).
Was it his commercial law exams that he had to resit?
@Bookworm, the word is going round that a plum post in the judiciary might conveniently become available once his deskmate Joey is made PM.
The monetary rewards are very little when compared to those earned by the “best criminal lawyer in Malta”.
Magistrate Claire Stafrace was in Franco’s course too.
I’m sorry, but I never followed his academical success or otherwise.
I am sure a criminal lawyer earns more than a magistrate.
Istra all the people he was with have been promoted – party leader, magistartes, and he’s still on the backbench. Remeber in 1994 ? Even Baggio, good as much as he was, missed a crucial penalty…
It has been stated by sport analysts that Roberto Baggio will always be remembered for the wrong reason – the penalty which he missed in the World Cup finals of 2004 against Brazil.
That goes to show that one important wrong move can damage an otherwise brilliant career.
But he will also be remembered for his problems with various managers, and he actually wrote about those issues in his autobiography entitled “Una porta nel cielo” – which has been translated as either “A goal in the sky” or “A gate in the sky.”
If I remember well, at the time he missed his 1994 penalty (was he trying to score in that goal in the sky?) he had problems with Sacchi.
Apparently, anyone called Baggio suffers from the same issues …
