I’m starting a petition of my own
The marmalja Mintoffiani has started a petition on Facebook (ghax issa ghandhom il-kompjuter, eh):
WE WANT JUSTICE PETITION AGAINST DAPHNE CARUANA GALIZIA
we are asking the maltese autorithes to take action against the hate wich is coming from dahpne caruana galizia !
daphne caruana galizia is a maltese political opinionist, she runs her blog attacking personaly and full of hate towards those who dont agree with the Maltese PN Goverment wich she highly support.
she attack personaly those politicants who dosent agree with the prime minister of mal…ta lawrence gonzi, so we are asking to the prime minister to stop her actions now !
she attacked former prime minister dom mintoff with his health, and she said ” May God rot his soul, if he finally decides he wants it ” she attacks personaly those who oppose prime minister lawrence gonzi, she attacks those politicants with their familys and children.
JUSTICE SHOULD BE EQUAL FOR EVERYONE, SHE IS INCITING VIOLENCE, IF YOU OFFEND SOMEONE IN PUBLIC YOU END UP IN COURT. SO WHY THIS ONE NO ? SHE HAVE THE PRIME MINISTER BACKING ?
WE WANT JUSTICE !
——-
I am going to start my own petition.
I DEMAND THE SETTING UP OF CONCENTRATION CAMPS FOR THE FORCED RE-EDUCATION OF PEOPLE WHO THINK LIKE THIS, AND THAT THEY BE SUBJECTED TO A DAILY ROUTINE, FROM DAWN TO DUSK, OF LESSONS IN READING, WRITING, SPELLING AND LOGICAL THINKING.
AND I FURTHER DEMAND THAT THEY BE MADE TO PAY FOR IT THEMSELVES, BECAUSE CLEARLY, THEY DIDN’T APPRECIATE THE EDUCATION WHICH WAS PAID FOR BY OTHERS AND GOT NO USE FROM IT AT ALL.
MY OTHER DEMAND IS THAT IF, AT THE END OF THIS FORCED RE-EDUCATION PROGRAMME, TO BE ADMINISTERED AND MANAGED BY ANNE MCKENNA AND YANA MINTOFF BLAND, THEY ARE STILL UNABLE TO THINK, WRITE, READ AND SPELL, THEN THEY SHOULD BE SHIPPED OUT OF THE COUNTRY, PREFERABLY TO THE OUTER REACHES OF PATAGONIA, AND LEAVE THE REST OF US IN PEACE.

Re Mckenna and Mintoff Bland, ship them off to the Falklands .
Not concentration camps. I cannot agree with the use of that phrase.
It is a horrible way to go about the very real need to shed some light on Labour’s Golden Years and the resurgence of the Mintoffian wing in the PL.
I couldn’t agree more with you on this one!
This is funny!
Where do I sign?
Hear, hear Daphne, I’ll sign your petition gladly.
ARROGANCE AT ITS VERY BEST.
MINTOFFJANI SAYS YOU??? HOW WRONG YOU ARE!
SEMPLICIMENT MA TISTAX TNIZZILHA LI HAWN NIES LI MINN GUF OMMHOM KIENU NAZZJONALISTI U LI WAHDA MILL-AFFARIJIET LI LLUM QED TGERRIXHOM MILL-PN HIJA PROPJU INT!
“UNABLE TO THINK, WRITE, READ AND SPELL” SAYS YOU? JUST BECAUSE PEOPLE DON’T AGREE WITH YOU OR YOUR HATE MONGERING.
[Daphne – Tghidli xejn kemm qed ingerrixhom jien. Tghid ma gerrixt lil Sidney Sullivan u t-tifla tieghu Krista, per ezempju? Malta is Malta, TCB: a blinking village. It really isn’t hard to work out where people are coming from, or why.]
lol @ “says you”
Nahseb li f’guf omm TCB kien hemm l-arma u tessera Nazzjonalista.
Hallina TCB, mhux xi ittra ohra miktuba minn Nikita u l-hbieb taghha hux?
I’ll tell you how much of a blinking village. This Ellul Sullivan family lived at the bottom of John Bosco street, at the back of the Caruana Galizia house which was on ‘the front’.
They are certainly not tal-pepe. More like tal-glied.
Daphne, ridiculing people who have a lower standard of education than yourself is hardly the behaviour expected from a gentlewoman, which is why your detractors do not treat you like one.
[Daphne – Gentlewoman? For God’s sake. I don’t ridicule people who have a lower standard of education. I mock and scorn people who have a low standard of education and come my way to hurl insults at me because this is all they know. They do so because they are crass, stupid and vulgar. I respond (not in kind, lucky them) because this is my chosen line of work. In any other situation, we would never encounter each other, and if we did, they would be too intimidated to say anything. Anonymity on the internet makes them feel safe. Fortunately, I have an extremely strong personality and actually enjoy telling them where to get off. I don’t want them to like me or be nice to me. If that happened, I would be worried that there was something seriously wrong with me.]
TCB is right is claiming that many Nationalists have defected to the PL. This is not because they are illiterate but as a direct consequence of the chasm between their values and thoughts about society and the quasi fascist beliefs that have resurged in the past decade within the political kernel of the PN under the GonziPN leadership.
[Daphne – It’s actually a whole lot more simple, Farrugia. They didn’t get what they wanted, they see a chance of getting it through Labour, end of story. Or they never cared anyway and were voting PN to get what they want. Historically, the Nationalist Party has always been smaller than Labour. You might misread the evidence to the contrary, but every election is actually a battle for the PN, not for Labour. It’s always Labour losing the election, rather than the PN winning it. The PN is the underdog. Look at it this way: the PN has to frigging perfect for its people to like it. But Labour can be a truckload of crooks led by KMB in 1992 and 45% of the population will vote for it. If that were the PN, it would get 10% of the vote, not 45%.]
I am surprised that you have not realised this even when support for the PN is now somewhat jaded.
[Daphne – I don’t switch allegiance between parties based on fashion, Farrugia. I think that much should be clear. Nor would I ever switch to a party which hasn’t yet told me what its policies are. I do not admire the choices such people make. I would want to know what they’re offering before I decide. Though to be frank, they could promise the world in a handcart and I still wouldn’t bother because of the people they’ve got, to whom my only reaction is mocking laughter. Karmenu Vella, last seen on a truck with KMB in the golden years. Thanks, you can keep that junk. This is a government we’re talking about, not a rag-and-bone shop.]
No Daphne, it is not because ‘they didn’t get what they wanted’ from the PN.
The truth is that GonziPN has destroyed every semblance of meritocracy in this country. In other words if you want a successful career or have aspirations beyond those of your present circumstances you have to become a GonziPN acolyte.
[Daphne – What absolute bollocks, honestly. State corporations, educational institutions, even government departments are over-run, literally, by Laburisti. Look at Malta Enterprise: Dom Mintoff’s daughter (has she since left?) and Dom Mintoff’s nephew. Look at the university hierarchy. I could mention names forever, but I don’t want to drag people into it. Suffice it to say that yesterday evening I received a very vulgar and aggressive insult from a Laburist called James Catania. His ‘wife’ is a director at MCAST, if you please. University is free and you are paid to go there, MCAST is free, training courses are free, generous scholarships for continued study overseas are open to all, you have an EU passport. Examinations for entry to the foreign service and civil service are open to all with no discrimination (in fact, in the last round, a Forum Zaghzagh Laburisti elf and Labour councillor, Chirelle Sciberras, was recruited into the foreign service).
What more do you want? Or are you one of those people who refuses to acknowledge the existence of the private sector? Marisa Micallef famously swung to Labour after she asked for a very senior position with the government, for which she was patently not qualified. She wanted the perks, salary, driver and comfortable conditions she had before she left her chairmanship of the Housing Authority to go and live in London. On her return, she expected to be given another comfortable situation just for the heck of it. She didn’t want to go out and work hard, like the rest of us, in the private sector. These are the people I am talking about.
But you have given away the way you and they think. Vote Labour to get a position and perks. Sickening, really. And tragic, even for yourselves.]
Further education or simply working harder are useless and won’t get you anywhere. However, some people are not willing to trash their values and belief in merit in order to serve prostrate in Gonzi’s court.
[Daphne – Oh, my goodness, how wrong you are. Your attitude reveals exactly why you are failing to make it. The chippy loser victim outlook does not make for success, I can tell you that. What exactly are you looking for? Spell it out? You might just be in the wrong business. If so, change. You realise, I trust, that one of the most off-putting things about Labour is precisely this ‘lack of initiative’ mentality. You have everything handed to you on a plate, but you want daddy to get you the job and pull you up through the ranks as well. Perhaps the next step is expecting somebody to do your work for you, because otherwise it wouldn’t be fair, would it. I have no time for this kind of thing. You really sum up the Labour attitude, exactly what I say separates PN suppporters from Labour: not policies, but attitude. So lack-lustre.]
That is why many Nationalists are leaving the party. It offers no future for those who believe in merit whereas GonziPN only accepts indentured servitude to the leader and his gang.
[Daphne – The reverse is actually true. Nationalist Party policies from 1987 onwards have all been oriented towards the development of the individual. However, you can take a horse to water but can’t make it drink. And you can distribute free rods to fish with, but there will always be lots of people who moan for fish. Labour policies are all designed to limit the development and progress of the individual, and we don’t need to go back to the 1970s and 1980s and that disaster, either. Think of the hysterical and determined objection to EU membership. Come to think of it, perhaps you’re getting nowhere fast because you’re not particularly sharp.]
Ban Ki-Moon studied by the light of an oil lamp when he was a child. That didn’t stop him becoming secretary-general of the UN. Why should anyone feel sorry for you? And why do you feel you need to get ahead through bazuzlizmu, rather than by your own effort?
Daphne, please….
Anonymity of the internet makes them feel safe?
What about an enhanced alarm-system and a 24/7 patrol around your house, which is rumored you have, for more than obvious reasons?
Nahseb aqta kif ikollok it-toqba ta ghanejk diehla u hierga meta tohrog mid-dar wahdek…
U seriously, ghala qed tinsinwa li min ma jaqbilx mieghek ghandu jiehu aktar edukazzjoni fuq kif jahseb? Possibli temmen li inti ghandek ragun, u Malta kolla li ma tahmilx il kummenti tieghek kolla injoranti?
F’dak il-kaz ghamel pjacir lil kull hadd u emigra. Strih u serrah…
While the prime minister is stopping her actions, we the Mintoffjani will keep on attacking Daphne and call her and her family names. Ghax ahna nistghu nkunu hodor u nghajru lil haddiehor, ghax tal-Labour specjali.
They want us to stop attacking personaly those politicunts who dosent agree with the prime minister…
Daphne, I disagree with your petition. In my opinion, borrowing bits from your petition, it should simply state:
I DEMAND THAT PEOPLE WHO THINK LIKE THIS SHOULD BE SHIPPED OUT OF THE COUNTRY, PREFERABLY TO THE OUTER REACHES OF PATAGONIA, AND LEAVE THE REST OF US IN PEACE.
Funny what a non-believer wishes to another non-believer “May God rot his soul, if he finally decides he wants it”.
[Daphne – Exactly where did you get the impression that I am a ‘non-believer’? And believe in what, anyway?]
I tink day need some basic english lessons. if they go to education department florian run lessons in basic skills for the older people who not know how to write and count. they almost free, and if unemployed, then free no money to pay to GONEZIIPPPNNN so he not now get his Ewro 500 a week and his minister who his wife screamed when the Ewro 500 stopped, can now get no pool and farmhouse!!!!!!! if not mistake, the person who runs this programs is ALEC which is a regular writer on maltastar’s artickles. so success assured in grasping small but useful communications skills. as long as they now able ibazwru a few words after a few other words, then it’s bomba.
Do these people not have family and friends who actually read what they write?
Make yourself look like a fool a bit more. GO ON! IT’S HILARIOUS.
Seriously, who are you, with that messed up English, to state that anyone else needs to get a proper education?
WOW!
Daphne, now why you run your blog eh?
Vanni, qed tfakkarni f’ Dun Arkanglu Alla jahfirlu, ghal dawk il-Lasalljani li jiftakruh.
Hahaha so true! Qas kienet gietni f’rasi.
I always thought that in the end you wanted your political adversaries to be herded into a concentration camp, but I never imagined you would be so forthright about it! Dr Goebbels would be impressed (may he rot in hell).
[Daphne – Irony is alien to the lumpen masses.]
Lessons in irony and sarcasm are to be added to the curriculum. That will be painful.
And would they be able to discern the difference between irony, satire and sarcasm? Pray, would they know if a comment is sardonic or not? We need very good experts here, like those that are counselling Anglu and Joseph to shed a tear or two. Poor little babes lost in the woods! (my apologies to Blake)
A concentration camp in the sense that learning to read, write, spell and think logically requires concentration.
I think any irony or sarcasm using the words ‘concentration camp’ is immediately lost especially when the commentary is political.
Oh yes, even the Nazis used that sort of sarcasm but we know what their real intentions were.
You have to admit your choice of words was very poor indeed and offensive beyond your petty world inhabited by adversaries called Laburisti.
[Daphne – Give me your address and I might send you a subscription to Private Eye for Christmas. That should help you ease yourself in.]
The US organised concentration camps for the Japanese living on American soil after the attacks on Pearl Harbour.
What you refer to is an extermination camp.
The National Socialists were never sarcastic, if anything, they were very clear during rallies about their plans when in power.
Symptoms of a totalitarian mindset: No sense of humour or irony. Their inability to see the bigger picture shows how deep their social conditioning goes.
The mere mentioning of certain phrases apparently oblige one to be outraged and make public displays of faux moral indignation. I bet some of them laugh at South Park episodes and do not make the connection.
Daphne, dont’ even try to compare your comments on this blog to Private Eye.
Listen to or read Ian Hislop’s witty jokes and comments and you will realise how senseless and crass your brand of sarcasm is.
[Daphne – I’m more than capable of the other sort, Farrugia, but I know what I’m largely dealing with here so I save it for my family and friends, and don’t bother the rest of the time.]
By the way, Ian Hislop is the most sued man in English legal history. I suppose if you try harder you might make your mark on Maltese legal history too. But please be advised, that humour is not your forte (you lack maturity as a prerequisite), although you do have other talents.
[Daphne – See what I mean? Just look at the sort of people I have to contend with.]
I worship Private Eye and Daphne’s blog in equal measure. She is the closest thing we have to that brilliant British wit and biting commentary which is the envy of the world.
The envy of those who can recognise its importance in a free and democratic liberal democracy, at any rate.
The Maltese prefer to go about it in a legalistic hand-wringing wied tad-dmugh sort of way.
P.S. Can I get that subscription instead?
[Daphne – No. Wied tad-dmugh? Some Facebook walls are more wied qirda or bir tas-skieken.]
“Democratic liberal democracy.” I’m slipping up.
I used “wied tad-dmugh” to mean that peculiarly Southern Italian Catholic fatalism. It’s hard to express in a single word. You can see it at work when a firework factory blows up, and you get the prime minister at the funeral (to show what? Solidarity with recklessness?).
Or when the some prominent figure is taken ill and you get a tsunami of prayers offered up to god on The Times’ comments board. Or when Malta fails to qualify for Eurovision and we blame geopolitics (just about the only time we look at a map).
It’s the belief that prudence and ghaqal are enough to see you through life, which is not meant to be enjoyed, but endured.
[Daphne – Yes, I know exactly what you mean. It’s tragi-comic. Imagine if I were to do a couple of spoofs on that. Kemm naqla insulti u petizzjonijiet fuq Facebook u kummenti ta’ gejs Laburisti u Stylewatching fashionistas mil-Lazy Corner u pseudo-flower-children ta’ smugglers Mintoffiani. Ah, how I wish I had more time.]
‘Stylewatching fashionistas mil-Lazy Corner’
Hmmm. What is this about?
farrugia . The British invented the concentration camp during the Boer war . Goebbels was the Nazi propaganda minister whilst Himmler was right up top when it came concentration camps .
I am sure there are other blogs that people can read if they don’t like yours.
Iz-Zejza will be jealous with this upstaging on your website.
Maybe the Mintoff sisters might try to use the same educational methods they made use of when they attended the British Services Handaq School (for free) whilst the rest of us couldn’t afford private schooling.
Funny that. Where I live the local council is organising adult de-education classes to help literate people fit in.
I’m in two minds about joining …
@ WE WANT JUSTICE PETITION AGAINST DAPHNE CARUANA GALIZIA
Imma kemm intom stupidi, jahasra.
Nissuggerilkom tiehdu l-kors li qed tinsisti fuqu Daphne, ghall-gid taghkom, imma specjalment ta’ uliedkom.
Cemplu mill-aktar fis lill Anne McKenna jew lill Yana Mintoff Bland biex tirriservaw post immedjatament.
Can I please join your FB page? I just want to write ‘Amen’.
In that case, I’ll have to start another petition for the protection of Patagonia. I can’t risk the steaks.
“she attacked former prime minister dom mintoff with his health, and she said ” May God rot his soul, if he finally decides he wants it ””
I do not see what’s the problem with that statement. Daphne was very decent and she made her comment subject to a fair condition. In fact, if God will not want “his” soul – and let’s put it this way, who wants it – God will not rot it.
How can someone ‘attack’ a person ‘with his health’?
Is ‘health’ now some sort of a blunt instrument?
Angus, for the Mintoffyani, anything can be used as a weapon against their enemy. That’s their mentality.
If re-education in a concentration camp is unacceptable, how about conscripting them into an updated version of “Dirghajn il-Maltin”?
Or another Tuks Force (mind you, the English will be like that written in this blokk and has to be approved by the summa Anglu).
Dear Daphne
What have the Patagonian cattle done to deserve the fate you want to doom them to?
Weren’t the days when we dedicated entire government departments and whole budgets to the price of their corned beef enough of a contribution to din l-art helwa?
I think we should ship the ‘aristokrazija tal haddiema’ to Antartica.
Where do I sign?
“she attack personaly those politicants who dosent agree with the prime minister of mal…ta lawrence gonzi, so we are asking to the prime minister to stop her actions now !”
Ask the PM to stop her from insulting Laburisti? These people are insane.
Are they aware of their own groups on FB against Dr. Gonzi? Do they ACTUALLY read what they write?
Just check some of those groups and you see where the HDURA is. What you, Daphne, have expressed here on Mintoff, is far less hateful and more decent than what they write on those pages.
Yana Mintoff needs Maltese private lessons.
Let’s start calling her Mintoff Yana.
I’m not paying.
Jew b’xejn jew xejn.
And what does Daphne need? She thinks she knows maltese but believe she doesn’t!! Have you heard here speak?!
@ hbieb lejburisti – Cara din, daqs kristall. Naghmlu rapport lill-puluzija. Jekk Defni ghamlet xi krajm tarrestaha, u mohhna mistrieha…
Ghax ma ghamlux xi petition jitolbu ‘justice’ ghan-nies kollha li gew imsawta u maqtula minnhom? Ipokriti.
Imma qabel ma l-puluzija jarrestaw lill Defni, iridu l-evidenza.
U biex jaqraw dak kollu li kitbet dawn l-ahhar snin il-Kummissarju jkollu jqabbad il-korp kollu biex xi darba (wara li Defni tkun saret buznanna), jaslu ghal konkuzzjoni li dak kollu li qalet, kixfet u skopriet, kien kollu veru w ghalhekk ma jkun hemm l-ebda raguni biex titressaq il-Qorti.
I’ll sign, only on one condition though – they should be shipped out of the country on a one way ticket (Hamilton travel please note).
Ulied in-Nanna Venut fl-Internet.
Where do I sign?
Lill-“Fusellu”.
U jekk Daphne ma ghamlet xejn, xorta wahda jppruvaw jiffrejmjawha, bhal ma jafu.
I say give them hell !!
VIVA MINTOFF
Not for long, he won’t.
This is just hilarious. If they don’t like what you’re writing they should just bugger off. No one’s forcing them to read your articles, despite the fact that it would do wonders for their vocabulary.
Why bother with Patagonia? County Antrim is closer. James Tyrell could do with some like-minded company.
Honestly I saw you live one day and i confirm that you look like piece Shit…fuckin ugly witch lol
[Daphne – You saw me live one day? I’ve lived 48 years, not one day.]
The best thing to do is to ship you out of the country because you are a disgrace to the maltese nation.
You think that you are all high and mighty but in reality you are just an ignoratant person which has nothing better to do than to try and make your self feel better by belittling others. At the end of the day you are just ridiculing your self.
The best thing is try and get a life.. if that possible now!!!
Ahjar tiehu naqa edukazzjoni hi forsi xi darba titghallem tirrispetta!! Min qalbi nghidlek jalla meta tmut Kulhad johrog jiccelebra u jalla tmut fi zmien il bday tieghi biex zgur niccelebrah sabih!! Ja mara hazina l-int.. Kif ma tisthijx titkellem bil mod li titkellem!! Ghandek in-nies joboduk ghax trid int u tibqa’ l-istess!! Postok ga lest linfern taqlaa il furkettun fsormok!!
To be honest I cannot understand why you have such cruel intentions, teenagers and young adults are against PN because of these kind of words made by you. You should be ashamed of yourself, i never took sides with these parties but i am offended at your comments. You do not even deserve a blog, no real journalist would make such spiteful comments about a man who just DIED.
You are a low life and your vocabulary, don’t make me laugh. Fancy words get you nowhere, your followers themselves can’t even write so please send us to these concentration camps but make sure and send those who follow you too!
Perhaps you young adults and teenagers should listen to some of the stories that you never knew existed and educate yourselves. Read some more of Daphne’s topics… search The Times archives.
Try talking to some thirty-somethings who grew up in the early 80s in Malta. I came to Malta when I was 9 years old, in 1984 and let me tell you, it was a scary and undignified state of mess.
The propaganda was embedded into kids’ minds at a young age. I was terrified of my childhood friends, who shouted for KMB before they could even talk because that’s all their parents taught them to say.
I’ll tell you why you’re against the PN. You’re against the PN because of all the s**t your parents (or friends) have force-fed you and not because of anything Daphne writes. Mintoff is dead and good riddance, just like any other scum-bag.
The Maltese children of the 80s and generations before that were ignorant in the sense of not having known what it was like to have certain “luxuries” of living abroad or knowing what it was like to live in the real world, a world of democracy.
Guess you can’t miss what you’ve never had, but let me tell you, for someone who spent the first years of her life elsewhere, Malta was a third-world, communist country. And that is from viewing it through the eyes of a child.
