John Dalli should stick to growing John Dalli & Associates, and leave the rest of us alone
This country, or rather some of the ill-bred chavs in it, is just unbelievable.
As though we haven’t had enough of Franco Debono, along comes John Dalli to play his own ‘will he, won’t he’ game.
He’s keeping his cards close to his chest and won’t tell us whether he’s going to be a candidate in the upcoming general election or not.
“I am not stating that Dalli is contesting the election but I’m not indicating that he isn’t either,” his spokesman told the press.
“Dalli will make an announcement on his decision when the time is right. Any assumptions at this stage would be superfluous.”
Am I missing something here?
On which party ticket is he planning to contest, exactly?
Not the Nationalist Party, that’s for sure, unless he’s planning on being invited to do so by the very man he’s spent the last eight years running down, and the last three years being unbelievably rude to, with attempts at undermining him all the way along.
If Lawrence Gonzi feels in duty bound to bow to pressure to let this dreadful individual contest, then more fool he. A Nationalist Party which goes to the polls burdened with a candidate like John Dalli is crippled at the outset.
The Nationalist Party should have learned its lesson by now. Wipe the slate clean. It doesn’t need people on board with serious personality issues and revenge plans. If John Dalli contests the election, it will be with a view to getting himself elected leader, and nothing less. And if he is not made leader in any eventual leadership election, he will spend the rest of his term as a member of parliament simmering on the backbench and trying to undermine the person who beat him to it.
Enough of this.
More particularly, enough of this man. He’s another one who wants, wants, wants, takes, takes, takes, never smiles and is always angry because he’s not getting enough even though he’s so very amazing.
Let him stick to growing John Dalli & Associates in the new Libya. Heaven knows he’s going to have his work cut out building a contacts book from scratch.

Who is the hot girl on the cover?
[Daphne – They have one on every cover, usually some Hollywood actress or model.]
Megan Fox
I thought it was Julia Farrugia.
she wishes
I think the Nationalist Party should take this election as a start of (another!) very successful period. It has to start with candidate selection. Gonzi will be stronger than ever.
His contacts in Libya have been burned, shot, imprisoned or bombed, or are in exile, and he hasn’t been back there since. I wonder why.
Nonsense. Maltese firms are once again doing brisk business in Libya, thank you very much. Don’t believe any of those tlifna hobzna stories.
John Dalli shouldn’t be allowed to contest the election with the PN but, if he does, Saviour Balzan would suddenly find himself with a conflict of interest.
John Dalli? A ‘leader with style’? Oh, my. Then I’m Giorgio Armani.
Am I missing something here?
Why would John Dalli and Edward Scicluna renounce their positions in the EU with handsome salaries/perks for a mere honoraria of less than €20,000 euros per annum?
Was Scicluna ready to renounce his MEP seat, so early, to make way for Marlene Mizzi, to be a backbencher like Franco Debono in Joseph’s government? What if he isn’t elected?
Oi, this is not me e, i know the difference between ‘looses’ and ‘loses’.
[Daphne – That’s right. I deleted his comment. The beetles have found a fresh strategem: using the names of regular commenters. But they have no way of knowing the email address, so that’s how I can tell it’s not the same person.]
Not so cunning seeing as you probably jot down all of the IPs that come through this blog.
[Daphne – Jot down? This is the internet age. No, I don’t need to jot them down. If I begin to suspect that somebody is posting abusive comments under different names, I just run a check against the IP and it gives me different names for the same IP. Then I just ask them to please stick to one name, thank you. Anyway, the sort of people we’re talking about in this case wouldn’t know what an IP is, or that their IP number is logged when they comment.]
Please note that if ever John Dalli contests with the PN again, I will abstain even though I voted PN in the last eight elections. His performances on One TV are enough proof that he is unfit and extremely disloyal, and if you are so fond of him I suggest you look at L-Orizzont of a few years ago and see what he stands for them too but that another story.
Yes, the prime minister was right about him, and the Nationalist Party was right to choose Gonzi not Dalli. How much more gentlemanly were those of the past who accepted the leader as the first among equals. History is on Gonzi’s side.
