Let’s not forget that the cockfighter-turned-lawyer did the same thing two years ago

Se jħarbat is-salott tad-demokrazija ta’ Gonzi?

Charlot Zahra bi profil ta’ Franco Debono, id-Deputat Nazzjonalista li waqaf lil Lawrence Gonzi fil-Parlament, u b’hekk ġab lura l-ispettru tal- instabbilità politika fil-pajjiż, tlettax-il sena wara li Dom Mintoff kien waqqa’ l-amministrazzjoni Laburista mmexxija mill-eks-Prim Ministru Alfred Sant

(…)

“Bil-martell tal-ambizzjoni ejja noforġu fuq l-inkwina tal-umiltà l-ideat li jiddistingwuna. Ideat li nistgħu nbigħu lill-oħrajn,” kien żied jgħid Debono fil-maiden speech tiegħu.

“Wara kollox dak hu dak li wħud mill-ikbar persuni qatt inrexxielhom jagħmlu. Irnexxielhom joħolqu ideat mill-barriera wiesa’ tal-ideat,” kien stqarr Debono dakinhar.

Id-diskors ta’ Debono jagħti insight fuq il-psikoloġija tal-Membru Parlamentari Nazzjonalista fejn għalih l-ambizzjoni tieħu post ċentrali tal-ħidma politika tiegħu.

(…)

Bħala avukat, Debono qatta’ l-ewwel snin tiegħu jiddefendi każi żgħar quddiem il-Qorti tal-Maġistrati, bħall-pussess ta’ droga, serq u affarijet oħra, li iżda servew biex jibni klijentela qawwija, speċjalment fost ir-residenti tal-Ħames Distrett Elettorali. Hu beda jopera għal rasu f’uffiċċju fiż-Żurrieq.

Dawk li kellhom x’jaqsmu mal-ħidma ġurnalistika fil-Qorti fil-bidu tal-millennju jiftakru lil Debono spiss iħabbat fil-Kamra tal-Ġurnalisti fil-Qorti u jgħaddilhom l-aħħar preżentati tal-klijenti tiegħu u jitlob biex jissemma fi tmiem ir-rapporti.

Eventwalment Debono fetaħ l-uffiċċju legali tiegħu, Franco Debono and Associates, b’uffiċċji fiż-Żurrieq u l-Belt Valletta li jispeċjalizza wkoll fl-oqsma tal-Liġi Ċivili u Kummerċjali.

MY NOTE: Hasn’t he just said that he wasn’t interested in commercial law and missed many of those lectures?

(…)

Ir-rivalità bejn Louis Galea u Franco Debono u l-possibbiltà ta’ Galea jerġa’ lura fil-Parlament bħala Ministru wara li John Dalli kien nominat bħala Kummissarju Ewropew mill-Gvern Malti setgħet xprunat lil Debono biex jagħmel dak li għamel.

——–

Well, we hadn’t thought of that last one, had we? Please don’t anybody tell me now at this point that Louis Galea was asked to accept his overseas position as an alternative to taking John Dalli’s parliamentary seat just because this crock of shit (excuse the expression if you’re fastidious about this sort of thing) made yet another scene.

Franco Debono probably thinks this film is about him.

Franco Debono's cock is, of course, bigger than everyone else's

Who’s going to bell the cat?

Confidence vote or no confidence vote?A confidence vote needs Franco’s vote while a no confidence vote needs it also. If he votes NO in the no confidence , then all PL supporters will call him ‘pufta’ for not putting his words into actions.

Labour would look power hungry even more than they are perceived to be now. That’s what Joseph is worried about.

Joseph is afraid. He talked a lot in the press conference and virtually said nothing. He was probably reading some paper which Anglu Farrugia ‘corrected’.
The outcome was “Un bell zero adornato con i fiori.”

I liked the barrage of questions from the journalists present.

The PN is in no hurry, and neither is the public.

We would be in uncertainty if the government was a new government under a new leader in these troubled times of bailouts, technocratic governments, austerity measures and shrinking economies . Up to now we’re doing comparatively well.

There is a problem within the PN but it’s not causing uncertainty in the country,it is only causing embarrassment to the party in government.

In parliament Franco will just abstain. He knows his limits and he won’t bring the government down.

He’s no fool. If he does something of the sort he won’t be able to walk down Strada Rjali ever again.

Like all people he judges others by his standards.

    • Jozef says:

At one point on Bondi+, Franco took up Lou’s lead confirming Joseph’s ‘admiration’ following some prize day.

Which begs the question, is this why Joseph wants to be prime minister?

We don’t need another one grumbling the PN won’t let him work.

Debono said he wasn’t interested in commercial law and missed many lectures.

Isn’t that a euphemism for having failed and needing to resit commercial law exams?

  3. oldtimer says:

I would think that he is rubbing his hands in glee at this negatve publicity he is getting.

His small mind thinks that he will surface victorious after his shameful performance, but all cock-fighters know that somhere, somehow, another cock will appear and defeat his super-cock.

  4. Old Aloysian says:

This whole Franco Debono issue reminded me of the college anthym. He and some others seem to be following it word by word…. Abstract:

    ..”Work, play, day by day,
    College years crawl away,
Low, High our sky rolls by.
Heads lifted high, St.Aloysius our cry,
While we study, work and play.
    Our aim, proud we claim,
    Is the ladder of fame.”…
