One of the democratic principles for which Franco Debono is going to bring down the government
Cock-fighting, bird-trapping, whatever next?
MALTASTAR: yesterday
FKNK deplores government for ignoring Debono’s plan to save bird trapping
The Federation of Hunters and Conservationists (FKNK) said today that what MP Franco Debono said that he had put forward a plan to government that would have allowed bird-trapping to continue even within the EU framework, shows that this traditional past-time had a future in Malta even after EU membership. Debono said government had not taken any notice of this plan.
FKNK said that this shows that government did not really want to apply for a derogation to permit bird trapping to continue in Malta. Government in fact very illogically and arbitrarily, said FKNK, decided not to open the trapping season for plovers for 2011-12 while the same species can be hunted in other EU states, including Malta.
FKNK can confirm that it met Debono several times on this issue and he had worked hard to present his plan even though he found many obstacles. FKNK called on government to consider seriously Debono’s plan to show that it wants to give legal space to bird trapping. FKNK showed its readiness to meet government to see how to make this happen.

How many other plans did the Hon. Debono work on, which we are not yet aware of? Was he leading his own government?
Fishing quotas are next. Didn’t Debono say he likes fishing ‘ghax rilassanti hafna’?
Not for the fish, it isn’t.
And certainly not for anyone fishing in the near vicinity of this cock-fighter.
In his 2009 interview with Julia Farrugia, which was “L-uniku intervista li bla tlaqliq nista’ ngħid li ż-żewġ partijiet ‘waħħluh’ lil xulxin,” Franco told Julia that he loves birds – but he prefers them alive. But he didn’t mention anything about the cages.
“Il-ħut niġġennen għalih. U jien qed noqgħod Marsaxlokk issa. Anke mmur nistad. Veru rilassanti. U nħobb ħafna l-għasafar. Ħajjin imma!”

He likes his fish dead. Or does he eat them alive?
Poor birds.
We really have no right to kill or eat them: http://andreasmoser.wordpress.com/2012/01/04/bird-flu-is-not-that-bad/
Hey Moser. didn’t I tell you that this is the best blog on the island?
Is this the tbatija?
There’s an Italian saying which fits Franco Debono’s state of mind perfectly: “muoia Sansone con tutti i Filistei” (Let Samson die with all the Philistines).
Debono will bring down the government and willingly bury himself in the rubble as long as he “destroys” those he sees as his enemies.
Except, of course, that the PN will rise again. Franco won’t.
