Looks like an advert for a Verdi Opera that ends in tragedy.

  2. Not Tonight says:

    Sounds like a death sentence.

  3. Grezz says:

Oooh! I can’t wait to receive one!

  4. Oops says:

If I get one of these on my birthday I won’t be able to sleep for a week.

I hope Anglu Farrugia doesn’t get any creepy ideas too.

It’s already enough that he gets his personal assistant to call me on my birthday to express his best wishes………. on Dun Ang’s behalf of course.

And may I add that the phone call is always with an ID number withheld, which makes me think it’s actually the taxpayer forking out for the call. I find it, how shall I put it, rather intrusive.

  5. Roy says:

Well, Deceduti IS all the rage with the section of society he’s trying to woo isn’t it?

  6. Dee says:

Looks like a condolences card rather then birthday greetings.
    Shades of the Addams Family.

  7. Pepe` says:

Had I not read it, I would have thought it’s an undertaker’s business card.

    • FP says:

Funny that. I read it and am sure that it cannot be anything other than an undertaker’s business card … to the deceased.

Why would anyone want to convey good wishes on the occasion of “egħluq żmienu”? Jekk xi ħadd jagħlaqlu żmienu, ifisser li jkun spiċċa.

Will someone please inform the Avukat LL.D. M.P. kelliem ewlieni għall-ġustizzja that it’s “egħluq sninek”, f’ġieħ il-ġustizzja li hu kelliem ewlieni għaliha?

Unless, of course, those cards are accurately worded and intended to be sent to the incumbents that he and his party are thinking of replacing shortly!

      • Pepe` says:

He can just change the wording to read :

Why go on living when I can bury you for €500?

      • Min Weber says:

        Ezatt!

        Jose’, int imbecilli ruhi.

        Gheluq zmienek = meta tmut.

        Birthday = gheluq sninek.

        U mhux snIEnek.

But Herrera is another member of the LOWIQ TEAM.

X’dizastru ta’ nies. Xi dwejjaq. X’inkwiet, la jkunu fil-Gvern.

      • FP says:

        @Min Weber

No need for the kelliem ewlieni għall-ġustizzja to go to such expense to prove his IQ. Listening to one of his endless long-winded speeches, going off on disconnected tangents, while trying to argue a point is proof enough.

But then, to be fair, he’s not alone in that department.

  8. ciccio says:

Is this sort of thing not in breach of data protection?

    • Min Weber says:

Not really. Birth certificates are a public document. Electoral registers are public documents too. From an electoral register you obtain the ID card, from the ID card the birth date.

There is no data protection issue here.

      Unfortunately.

  9. Dee says:

If I ever have the misfortune to receive such a greetings card, I will get an exorcist to say prayers on it to help ward off the bad luck and send the Hon Herrera a ‘thank you’ note saying gheluq ZMIENI, indeed.

  10. Paul says:

Why would a criminal lawyer send birthday greetings to strangers?

Nowhere on this card does it say that Herrera is a politician or affiliated to a political party.

  11. tinnat says:

I might be led to think he was inspired by professional photos of another José of Spanish operatic fame…. http://www.topnews.in/files/Jose.Carreras.jpg

  12. Francis Saliba MD says:

    “Gheluq Zmienek”?

That sounds more like a “Requiescat in Pacem” than a “Happy Birthday”

  13. Anthony says:

I would be tempted to answer him “ghajnejk f’s***i”.

However it is claimed that such an answer can provoke an acute attack of haemorrhoids.

  14. daniel says:

    Taht min ha nergaw nigu…

  15. C Falzon says:

It would be interesting to know to whom he actually sent those cards. The macabre style might not be a mistake.

  16. vicki says:

Fih futur ministru tal-gustizzja Jose Herrera!

Vera klikka avukati bla sens ghandu Joseph mieghu – Toni tal-puppet show, Anglu tat-tuks fors, Luciano Busuttil, Herrera..

Ara min jaspira biex imexxi l-Malta! L-Bambin jilliberana minnhom kollha.

  17. michael seychell says:

As a resident of Tal-Pieta, the first Christmas card I received was from Hon. Dr. Jose (Hose) Herrera.

When I opened the card all I found was the printed document, with no written name of the person who sent it.

It became very evident to me that these cards were sent by Herrera’s friends/canvassers, with the names taken from the electoral register.

I threw it in the trash bin.
