The boil must be lanced, it seems

Timesofmalta.com has just reported on what the prime minister said this morning:

A solution to the current political crisis in the country has to be give the country clarity until the end of the legislature, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said this morning.

Speaking at the Zebbug Club, Dr Gonzi said that he will do his best to find a solution but a resolution taking the country to Thursday will not solve anything.

“That is not a solution. A solution should be one with no conditions attached to it,” he said to applause. A solution, he said, should be one that would allow the government to implement its electoral programme.

Unless such a solution was found, the government will have to seek the people’s confidence in an election even though it was not in the country’s best interest for an election to be held now.

Dr Gonzi said that next week one of the most important weeks in this legislature since a motion of no confidence in the government was to be debated and a vote will then be taken on Thursday

When exchanging New Year Greetings with ambassadors last week, all were amazed at how a country that was achieving such positive results in such a situation was going through such internal turmoil.

Confidence, the Prime Minister said, was obtained by results, employment, a strong economy and education.

Why were the ambassadors amazed? This is Malta after all.

I was waiting for the Prime Minister in waiting – Dr. Muscat – to give us his visions for Malta. Did I fall asleep as I seem to have missed them.

  3. Dee says:

Joe Muscat during his speech this morning referred to 1971 as the end of the colonial era in Malta .

    *speechless.

In the land where we think recessions can’t hit us, where jobs and homes are taken for granted, where we think that anyone can lead and where so much time is wasted dealing with one person’s ego and delusions, we could really do with a reality check. Here’s an up to date account of the situation in Greece.

    Does anyone proofread these articles?

Just imagine our toothless Franco Debono, Anglu Farrugia or any of the other drama queen politicians we have in Malta, who are prone to breaking down in front of cameras, having to go through this

And if that’s not enough, here’s John Humphrys comparing Ed Miliband to Robin Cook and not so subtly asking him to his face whether he’s too ugly to be in politics.

Ed Miliband takes it in his stride. Can you picture our ‘stop the personal attacks’ lot doing the same?

A bunch of lily-livered men, the lot of them.

Here’s the interview. Go straight to 17:29 to hear the bit about Robin Cook, Ed Miliband and ugliness.

Is it possible that none of the ambassadors noticed that we were all living in abject poverty ?

I was not comfortable with X so I went with Y.

That’s how certain people reason things out.

  10. Lomax says:

Yet again, this blog made my day.

That Yana woman ruined my mood big time and Brincat and Mallia didn’t really help.

Finally, Joseph’s speech was the crowning glory when, after minutes of ranting, he still didn’t disclose how he’s going to achieve the miracles he’s promising.

Why, oh why, should we go through this every time an election is in the air?

  12. Silvio Farrugia says:

Is it true what I just heard – that Jason Micallef has been promised the running of PBS when Labour gets elected?

We all see what a mess One TV and Radio are in, reporting blatant bias, only parts of reports or statistics published, with the good left out and a little contrary given headline.

We all know that he is stupid enough not to realize that people who count do not watch only ONE and they can notice everything. Also we remember the mess he made for Labour in the last election. God help us if it is true.

Hey, everyone, be cool. So the clueless reds, with their naive dwarf, get in. Within six months they’ve f*cked up. Mark my words.

Think a little long term. A PL government, with a clueless leader, will discredit all that has been built within the EU.

The dwarf may harm the nation, but he will not be allowed to destroy it.

    • H.P. Baxxter says:

If only, Harry. Labour may f**k up the country until it vomits black blood, but they’ll last the whole five years, make no mistake.

They’ve waited for this since 1998 and they’ve purged the party of any dissenters.
