Time to go, Franco – like models and singers, you’re suffering from ‘exhaustion’
These are screen-shots from Facebook.
Is it usual for members of parliament to hurl contemptuous abuse at electors who criticise them, instead of adopting a conciliatory tone?
The only two members of parliament who I’ve seen doing it are Botox Jeff and F**ked Up Franco. Jeffrey, when on one of his usual ‘Earl Grey’ benders, snarls at those who criticise him on his Facebook wall. But you kind of know that he’s been drinking too much Earl Grey.
Now here’s Franco Debono, who doesn’t drink Earl Grey but who reads The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying, taunting in Form IIC fashion the man he would have loved to be: the super-bright, super-stable 25-year-old Gudja councillor Mark-Anthony Sammut, whose blog-posts are widely read.
Tough nuts, Franco. You weren’t born with what it takes, and that’s the end of it. Try charity work in ‘Africa’ and come back with a mockumentary, like Silvo tas-Sawt.

Correction: Mark Anthony Sammut is from Gudja not Safi.
[Daphne – Thank you. I’ve corrected it.]
The likes of Franco Debono can get very spiteful.
Blame it on his “that time of the month”.
Mark Anthony Sammut doesn’t take up running to win the Olympics but he has put it to good use. From what I can see he’s taking part in the marathon and raising money for charity.
I’m sure Mr Sammut is too much of a gentleman to point this out.

SUPER Franco !!
I wonder HOW Lawrence Gonzi keeps ignoring Dr Debono valuable advice …maybe one of your readers have an answer to this question ??
Keep the good work going Franco and we are behind you till this stone in the Once Glorious Partito Nazionale of Enrico Mizzi and Giorgio Borg Olivier shoe is removed and after that as well !
As one can easily understand from the above comment on the Times website, Meli is a declared Fascist (membership in the Movimento Sociale Nazionale, Italy) and a MLP supporter.
La madre dell’idiota e’ sempre incinta.
You may wish to see how the same thread continues! Makes for very amusing reading, were he not an MP, that is.
[Daphne – Please send screen shots.]
This confirms that Debono needs a rest cure. No doubts.
I am still surprised at the fact that Dr. Gonzi did not ask him – politely or otherwise – to resign. Had it been Eddie Fenech Adami, Debono would not have stood a chance, let alone given a chairmanship of a Parliamentary committee.
Dr. Gonzi needs to act now. Maybe he would like the people to give their verdict and kick Franco out (if he presents himself at the polls).
But this is a dangerous risk. Look what happened to the Julian guy in Sliema. He managed to board the ship in the last count. Same can happen with Franco: Dr. Gonzi might find him legging and whining behind him for another five years.
Are you for real?
The PN Government, irrespective of whether Gonzi-led or with EFA at the helm, cannot/ will not/ would not kick out Franco Debono as its lifeline (the Govt’s ie) hangs in the balance. Perhaps you should be reminded there is (was) 1-seat majority.
As for Franco standing for elections again, I guess I needn’t even express an opinion about that. Wherefrom did you get such an idea as being remotely possible?
[Daphne – Your syntax is appalling. Your last sentence, in particular, made my eyes bleed.]
I will never vote PL for what my family suffered in the seventies and eighties and I will not vote PN if Franco Debono and two or three others appear on the PN candidates list next election.
Franco – the defenition of a hubristic personality.
Mark’s response was LEGENDARY.
Maltatoday report: Do you have any comment on the death of Dr.Censu Tabone?
Franco Debono: Is this a joke? You made a fool of me once with Seracino Inglott. You will not do it again. (Franco hangs up)
Maltatoday reporter calls back five minutes later:
Franco Debono: Yes indeed I read in the Times. I just want to say that it was thanks to ME that Dr. Tabone lived to the venerable age of 99.
Daphne, why should Franco resign and not Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici who didn’t do anything for four years?! Why should Franco resign and not Giovanna Debono, who left Gozo fall backwards?! Why should Franco resign and not Dolores Cristina for her EUPA mess?! Why are we pointing our guns to someone who holds no official posts, except for a simple seat in Parliament? I find it unfair.
[Daphne – He should resign because he is so obviously miserable doing what he does and so much in disagreement with everything and everyone. Also, he is suffering, as he tells us repeatedly. How did Gozo fall backwards? Was it drunk and sitting on a wall?]
It’s amazing what a mess a “simple seat in Parliament” can create, isn’t it?
What’s unfair is the unending abuse of power by a megalomaniac sitting in that “simple” seat on the side with a single-seat majority.
It’s because of that abuse that he should resign. What “Franco” and you, sir, not unlike many others, fail to realise is that that power was never given to him by the people.
Going beyond the power afforded to a regular elected MP sitting in a “simple seat in Parliament” is plain unadulterated abuse, pure and simple. The fact that the government has a one-seat majority is coincidental, and does not turn a 2068-vote Franco into a 143468-vote do-as-I-say-er.
He should also resign. In a previous comment, I said that he went to Castille wearing a suit with flip-flops. I was not kidding.
I tend to agree with Carm Agius. In Maltese politics there’s no accountability. Resignations are feared because they smell of embarrassment. I agree that people like Austin Gatt and Dolores Christina should have resigned after their respective political blunders. We’ve got lots to learn from Western politics (though not all of it) . At least Julian Galea did the right thing and I have full respect for this man, despite what he uttered.
Nuxellina has changed her ‘about’ entry on her facebook page.
She’s now ‘Qormi Mayor, italian teacher, journalist, newscaster and Producer’.
If she’s an Italian teacher, what’s she doing in Qormi?
My god, she gets around, doesn’t she?
Kemm hi biezla, it-tifla.
After the magistrates, now it’s the turn of criminal lawyers to be barred from using Facebook.
“If there is a person who has been near chris said in the most difficult moments that is ME”
Incredible. Should Dr Said’s family be feeling left out?
Franco, I’m sure you think of yourself as the better man, but from out here the picture is slightly different.
You and Mark Anthony Sammut? You don’t stand a chance in hell, mate. Not just at running, because clearly that is a no-brainer, but even in the arguments department you are just eating his dust – by a long mile and half.
Seriously, forget it.
Have you seen his op-ed in today’s Times? http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20120316/opinion/Quest-for-a-healthy-democracy.411368
