  1. Never Again says:

Not unfamiliar if you lived in Malta circa 1986.

But then, our leader’s daughters were rather less interesting.

[Daphne – In 1986, our leader didn’t have daughters. He was an ghazeb.]

  2. Manuel Camilleri says:

Very similar to the 80s in Malta.

Jason, being so thick, will not take up your invitation to watch it.

  3. Antoniette says:

It was a sign of protest for me when I was a teenager to walk around with the Nationalist newspaper in my hands. I would put the front page on the outside and walk proudly and defiantly with it in front of the Labour Party club. That’s how I learnt to walk tall and proud.

I was a slip of a girl and not really brave at all but I would not let those savages bully me.

I wish I saw this video a week ago. I’m a great Eurovision fan, but I would have boycotted this year’s show. This makes me sick to the stomach.

It’s also impressive how we received 8 points (the highest number of points we received) from Azerbaijan and gave them 12 points back. It smells of a pre-agreement with this Mintoff style regime.

  5. Grezz says:

It almost sounds like life under Mintoff in the 1970s and ealry 1980s.

  6. John Zammit says:

I saw this clip and I have to admit that it shows the serious situation. The eurovision authorities need to so some serious thinking about these contests. Shame on Azerbaijan and its regime. And shame on EBU for allowing such a contest to take place there.

It makes the EBU accomplice to these hardships imposed on the unfortunate people.

    Shame shame shame.

  7. Mark M says:

    Excellent investigative journalism.
By the way it’s worth investing in an ‘anti spy camera’ gadget – if such a thing exists.

  8. Sowerberry says:

Jason’s petulant fit at what he perceived to be a below-par performance by Malta’s entry at this year’s Eurovision sweepstakes can perhaps be connected to Norman Hamilton’s resignation from the committee earlier this year.

I think a Norman Hamilton – Mary Spiteri (after all the Russians did it !) combo would have gone down a treat in Baku with perhaps some input from Julia Farrugia.
