Justyne: well, we already know she didn’t go to charm school

So the Fat Controller took up the subject of the law courts and justice this week on his Super One show. Justyne Caruana – that screeching harridan who looks like something completely different until she opens her mouth and lets rip – rang in with her comments.

The law courts in Gozo are not accessible to people with certain disabilities, she said. I’m not going to argue with her on that point, but I was gobsmacked by what came next.

Joe Grima nodded sagely and agreed with her on every point, until she dropped one on him.

“Int kieku per ezempju ma titlax il-qorti t’Ghawdex,” Justyne said to the Fat Controller. “Int ezempju haj ta’ persuna li ghalik il-qorti t’Ghawdex mhux accessibli.”

She was talking about his fabled girth, of course. But can you imagine? Embarrassment all round, except for Justyne, of course.

She’s a graduate of the Xewkija Finishing School for Young Ladies.

  2. Neil Dent says:

Maybe she still bears a grudge from back when Mr. Grima abandoned all things Labour during the Sant days – and if so, what a way to grind her axe.

  3. Jozef says:

Shame on her for using the subject of disability to score points. If there’s one thing this PM did, it was to champion the cause when made minister for social policy, introducing the concept, commissioning methods to enforce accessibility as a design criterion in every project pursued by all ministries and appointing ngo’s to vet the designs.

It took Labour months to get rid of their snide ‘waste of money’ jibes.

  4. FP says:

    Jaw-dropping to the extreme.

“that screeching harridan who looks like something completely different until she opens her mouth and lets rip”

Perfect. You put her true colours in one sentence.

  5. George Mifsud says:

Must have been one of the few and rare times when the lady lawyer told the whole truth and nothing but.

  6. Rita Camilleri says:

She is a case of – “Oh Lord help me to keep my mouth shut until I know what I am talking about”.

  7. etil says:

In her total ignorance of ethics and good manners, most probably she did not even realise her mistake. However, she does think highly of herself.

  8. TROY says:

So Justyne thinks the Fat Controller is disabled. Poor Joe.

  9. Herman says:

She doesn’t like him because once he called her “blonde bimbo”, among other things. (she isn’t blonde anyway).

Future minister for Foreign Affairs, where nuance and diplomacy and tact are the odre of the day! Unbelievable.

  11. Angus Black says:

Serves Joe right although the source of the remark was remarkably unexpected.

Looking at Joe Grima these days the more he reminds me of Oliver Hardy although the latter was by far the wittier and the more entertaining.

As for Justyne, what can I say? She is another product of the Labour Party she never knew. Like them, she is slow to learn, quick to deny her Party’s shortcomings, her leader’s immaturity and his unsuitability to head the Party let alone the country.

Must be the result of going to finishing school in Switzerland

  13. cat says:

Justyne looks very pretty and elegant but once she opens her mouth, you can notice that there is no charm and elegance at all in her personality.

  14. silvio says:

Justyne has a knack of making mistakes (like that vote in parliament), but I must confess that this time she was right.

Does anyone think that Joe would make it?

His real problem is not that he is somewhat overweight, but that he carries too many chips on his shoulders.

  15. Alex says:

    Clip please, I beg you.

  16. Pepe` says:

I must watch this on di-ve.com. When did it show?

  17. Omega says:

    This is priceless; hilarious.

Well, I met the lady in an official capacity some months back and she was well turned out and listened keenly to what we had to say. It was a stormy February night and even though she was already running late (the meeting ended at almost 9.00pm), she put us under no pressure to hurry up. This while she had a young child/family to go to in Gozo and there was no way she’d be home before 10pm, after a long drive and a dodgy crossing. I have no difficulty in saying I really appreciated her commitment and interest.

Of course, if her target audience is what it is and she plays to the gallery, I can understand that too.

All I can say is that if the LP do get to govern, and Dr Caruana continues to seek feedback from an NGO I’m involved in, I will gladly give her mine.

    Qalitilhu!

  20. maryanne says:

She was well turned out, you say. That is because she just listened to what others had to say. But you didn’t tell us if she ever opened her mouth and contributed to the discussion. That’s a whole lot more difficult.

A few years ago I was at the Nadur Wine Festival waiting to order some fried rabbit and chips.

The Fat Controller came next to me and told the person in charge of the stall “Tini il-fwied tal-fenek minflok il-laham u zomm kemm trid” No wonder Justyne Caruana (tas-sriep) said that he is disabled.
