A scene that belongs in Palermo

And is it my imagination, or is that Alfred Sant bringing up the rear? What are those people – bodyguards, fixers, canvassers, heavies, what?

This is the 21st century, not the 1980s.

  2. marks says:

Is he on the way to Parliament accompanied by his friends?

  3. R Camilleri says:

Always wearing short-sleeved shirts underneath his suit jacket.

He was the only one not wearing a proper shirt on Affari Taghna yesterday, with a copious amount of hair coming out from beneath the jacket.

  4. Sowerberry says:

Yes, that’s Alfred Sant tagging along.
Who does Jose think he is, Falcone, Borsellino or Provenzano?

  5. ciccio says:

Maybe they are his “il-hbieb tal-hbieb” – shall we ask Alfred Sant?

  6. SC says:

I don’t see the big deal? Its not like he will be the Minister of Justice. Oh, oh wait..

  7. Dun Benit says:

It looks like a scene from Reservoir Dogs.

  9. Minn jaf says:

It is old Labour all over again, beefing up for the PN thuggery once PL is in government and PN is in opposition.

A precaution fully consonant with the PL version of the pre-1987 events otherwise known as the Zmien Helu tad-Deheb.

  10. Gahan says:

I can tell you who they will be in a year’s time when Jose’ will be Minister of Justice.

The one on his left : the driver , the one on the right chief messenger at the ministry and the one who is right behind him would be the one who works at the ministry but never seen around.

    Truly worrying.

On another subject, here’s a mind-numbing blog post by Jaccuse on why he deactivated his Facebook account. He could have written it in a few sentences, but no, in true Jaccuse style, he wrote a whole (boring) treatise on the subject.

  14. Reporter says:

Alfred Sant does not like Herrera – and you can see from the photo that he is angry at him.

One of the few things I agree with Sant on.

  15. Marku says:

I believe the correct term for these fellows is “dardira”.

  16. Paul Bonnici says:

Maybe he is their defence lawyer, or he stepped on far too many toes and so he needs protection.

  17. edgar says:

I think I saw them at Mater Dei in the brain surgery dept.

  18. Top class says:

    Alfred Sant was right, apparently:

A rather large dose of “DYKWIA” syndrome

  20. Spector says:

They could have been his clients. So what?

  21. P Shaw says:

Isn’t it ironic and amazing how ALfred Sant is sidelined, ignored and regarded as the invisible man?

After all, his own ex-poodle is leading by example.

Even the simple canvassers of future ministers don’t have any respect for him.

I predict that he will not be elected next time round.

  22. FP says:

1980s? Nah. He got wind of an ants’ nest at the palace entrance, and thought he’d bring along some reinforcements, not to spoil his soles.

  26. N pace says:

Is the man in the extreme background his bodyguard too, or is that Alfred Sant?
